    Hi Cindy,
    Just joined.
As some has said your not alone, we all have our own stories to share.
In time I'll give more info on my life, but for now it's all about you.
I Remember years ago in the hospitals a nurse cept on saying "Brian could be worse!" But at the time I couldn't speak or communicate....
I always wanted to ask her what could be worse.
Good n bad days Cindy, everybody tackles it differently but I think gardening has give you purpose and a interest away from the 'grind stone' as it has for at least.
It's good type on a forum of how you are doing, feeling etc.
I'll catch you around, just finding my foot (should be feet but only got one good one lol)
    Later
    Bri

I can't believe I only just found this thread. I'm so happy to see it here.

Just wanted to say that I too have a carefully curated selection of mental health issues. I'm also neurodivergent, as is everyone in our household. Gardening really does help, as does knowing other people have their own struggles, and talking openly about it.

Just browsing GC. I came across this thread. So, The plant assassin is Cindy. Hi Cindy.

As some on the forum may have noticed. I at times compare plants to humans. Trust me. This is true. Many comments have passed under the bridge, that gardening to whatever level is so therapeutic. Strange and perhps funny at times. We read coments, and think. Yes, alright for you mate, you've got the money and the health. Then over time, individuals open up. At this juncture. I must praise GC members. There is none of this. Oh! here we go again, get the violin out etc etc. When individuals open up. This is when us others begin to understand. So this is why so and so writes like this.

This thread has proved a very important matter. If a poll was set up. Be honest. How many of us could, declare. I am fit. Breaking that down. In some way or other, mental stress plays a big part. I remember my GP saying. Mike. Get yourself a fishing rod and spend time at the lakeside. Never mind whetherornot you catch anything. Looking at the water, the stillness and silence. Nowadays, many of us, install some kind of water feature in the garden. All of this points to a simpler outlook on life.

Yes perhaps our mental problems call for medical help. Forumwise. Lets not betoo hasty in resorting to school days. 'Hey four eyes' You're a nutter etc. Please stop and think. Although I know this is jovial. A person who sadly is undergoing a terrible fight within themselves, such asimple non intentional remark might hit the spot and who knows.

So what am I trying to say. We are all members of a great gardening forum. We all have our disabilities. Please consider what you say. Nutter, insane, loopy loo etc. Such sayings can really hurt.

That remains your prerogative.. Yes. This is a gardening forum. However, look beyond the horizon. We all are individuals and each have our stories to tell.

I am in total in shock at some of the posts and reactions on here!!!:yikes:

Threads and posts do not have to be viewed....just use your common sense and pass them by if they are of no interest to you.!!!:dbgrtmb:

Sadly ( and for sure) I may not have any magical or healing words of advice, but I have a good pair of..... eyes ( in this case) to ' listen ' to anyone who has a need to share ....
I have known people leave the forum because of their cries for help being shot down by insensitive responses to their posts.....don't let's go down that path again. Let's be there for each other ,now and for always....let compassion for all be a lesson learnt from this pandemic...at least! Please.

Surely the 'off topic' section on here is exactly that, 'off topic' and a place where everybody should be able to 'talk' about ANYTHING they want to? Its up to everybody else whether they want to read it or engage in said topic.
Im not sure whats gone on but I'm overly sensitive and I dont like it. I find it upsetting and judgmental. I wish Id never started this thread way back when.
Id like to take this opportunity to thank the lovely regulars who have interacted with me over the duration of my membership and sincerely thank you for all the lovely helpful advice you have given me.
This is the ONLY place I have any contact with the outside world but I don't want to be on here anymore so to that end I respectfully ask Admin to remove me from the Forum.

I'm afraid I disagree @CanadianLori. I, like you, come here to share and read about gardening, and I have no interest in discussing my mental state online. But why begrudge others that opportunity? The forum is not unique in that respect. I also belong to another hobbyist forum completely unrelated to gardening which has a very popular (and very long!) thread discussing mental health. When people feel an attachment to an online community it can be a great source of comfort and a safe space to open up.

This thread is clearly titled; we can choose to read it or not.

As I have previously said the content of this thread is in the title!!!

Others should lump it or leave it if it's not of interest to them

If there are troubled, sensitive souls who have abandoned GC, I know for a fact that there are plenty more who found the forum becoming less and less appropriate, and thoroughly unpleasant to try to navigate around. Unfortunately, the idea of having a separate section for such outpourings simply doesn't work. Why should members who want to discuss/ learn/ interact about the subject that interests them then be expected to avoid or erase a huge part of what is supposed to be a gardening forum? Far from GC not being welcoming and supportive, it will be abandoned by the very members it was created to encompass.
