There has been a lot of discussions and I found a place that the legs of the base will go in..It is in, but the slight slope is causing a tad more work...my job, so I was going to add some to the lower part of the ground but now the decision has been made for me. So I am now lowering the high side which will leave it a bit mucky but the ground will remain firm at least. No more changes, I hope. I will update when nothing else changes...and the greenhouse is finished.

What have I been doing in the garden today? Talking in very bad french to the neighbours gardener, who had come with a tree-surgeon to cut down two fir trees - in our garden - which were too close to his patio.

Also telling them not to walk through the flower beds, but to either use the two small stepping-stone paths through, or go round.
Then rescuing a red-squirrel nest that they dislodged from some ivy growing up the neighbours wall, as it had two baby red squirrels in it. I have contacted a nature specialist for advice - meanwhile the nest has been placed, around 1.5m high, on top of the leaf-mould clamp. I don’t know whether the parents will come back...

I bet they do....Sian in Belgium...a good tree surgeon we had cut two huge fir trees down. They had a shredder machine and they were absolutely fantastic. They left no mess and had all the qualifications needed. So impressed because we have had some right cowboys here in the past, so nice t obe impressed for a change. Good luck with your ones.

So the Greenhouse base.... it will stay where it is, which is behind the pond patio
and the trellis to the right side just out of view...that pampas at the back has gone..
Nowhere near where it was going, but happy it is decided on...

Put a lot of home made compost around the fruit bushes and plants.
Haven't finished it because my lower back started aching a lot and that's when i need to stop.

A nice feeling to be able to give the greenhouse a good airing today, threw open all the windows, vents and door for a few hours - first time for ages after all the cold weather.

It's organic in that it is carbon based i.e. made from living things, but I mean organic as in produced without artificial chemicals and pesticides. I often wonder if you can make organic compost from waste that has pesticides and chemicals on it. But what I really want to know is whether I am wasting my time making my own potting compost and whether anyone has a good recipe that they actually use.

Had to move my new greenhouse this morning to a sunnier spot with the OH. :phew: had to take the roof off and with a lot of "to me to you" we did it. It took longer to empty it and then put everything back. :ccheers: Anyway it's in a better place and is staying there now :heehee: popped to the allotment for some compost and blood fish and bone to get the other plants I bought last week potted up.

Not a lot today as I've had other things to do.:dunno::doh: But I've got a Contractor coming tomorrow morning to check out the job of trimming the Ivy on the 103' long rear fence from it's present height of around 10' to 12' down to around 6'. It's physically beyond me and most of the main work will have to be done from the Back Lane side of the garden where the lane is around 2' lower than the garden making the fence even higher from that side.:wallbanging: He enquired as to what sort of garden I had and I explained to him that it was a "busy" garden and he would understand what I meant when he saw it:dunno::heehee:

You really do need sky hooks sometimes .. which we needed at Pebbles for sure, never actually measured from the Lane to the top of the garden but must have been at least 3 stories of a building....
Greenhouse in situ and I have dug out a ton of soil one end feel about all in, but so worth getting the base in and level....Coffee and GC for a while now, wondering is that wild ivy? ...probably not...

@MidgetGem Its usually not advised to use home made compost due to it may contain pathogens like damping off and other diseases that may affect a very young seedling than say a more mature plant. Pesticides are usually broken down in a compost heap in about a year time . If you really want to use home made compost for seedling I'd look into a hot bin, expensive but the heat should kill off any harmful things and its only takes a matter of months to have some of that black gold .
