    Ours comes from sawing wood for logs which maybe is finer, I scatter it around the wood shed which is damp as lower than neighbours garden and other areas, it rots down with the dampness well within the year...

            Your Wallfowers are more advanced than mine Dianne!! Most only have smallish buds at the moment. IMG_20210223_162918.jpg IMG_20210223_161247.jpg

              @DianneW if you want to grow wallflowers from seed I start them the beginning of may for next year, that's the biennial ones.

                Cleared one bed, added a bit of fish, blood and bone, and planted out the broadbeans.
                I hope they make it, slugs and snails managed to get inside the mini greenhouse and munched away.. It is incredible how fast they come out after the cold..

                  @Upsydaisy But GC ones are priced in to be early I find..growing your own is more natural with their timing...too early and Mr.Chill gets at them ,just when you think he has gone....:spinning:

                    Dianne I start mine around June time . I grow perennials but you can get annual and biennial ones too.

                    They remain evergreen so once flowering is over they make a nice backdrop.

                    Every year I discard a few that have grown too big or tatty and replant with new. You can also propagate by taking cuttings, I have also done this when there are particular ones that I have liked.
                    Another way is to buy bare rooted ones around Oct time ( well over here you can ), you can buy them in bundles of 10- 15 very cheaply and just plant them straight into their final postion. They may look a tad sad and droopy and sulk a bit but once the winter weather gives way to some warmth they then have a growth spurt.:)
                    .

                              @Perki

                              Thanks, Perki, at the moment the bulbs shoots are the main body of green in the borders and more and more seem to be popping up. The Snowdrops are slowly increasing naturally but impatience has, as you know, got me adding a lot more "in the green" this year and I will probably do the same next year. I'm trying to leave long thin gaps between the drifts so that I can plant some hardy perennials which will carry on the colour when the Snowdrops have finished.
                              That Rhubarb is at least 30 years old, having been split several times over the years, and out of the handful of seeds that I "liberated" from the friendly gardener in Tissington was the one I chose to grow on out of around 60 or so seeds that germinated.

                              Well, I must admit I do, and my Wife did, prefer the smaller, daintier daffs to the larger varieties. I must admit I was a bit ashamed:doh: when I found the abandoned sack of Tete-a-Tete Daffs, still in their pots, at the bottom of the garden last Winter, that I used in February to plant up where my Wife rests, as I don't normal waste plants by doing that.:dunno: I'm still a bit surprised at the way that they have flowered so successfully after not seeing the light of day near enough after they'd finished flowering until late November. :hapydancsmil:

                                @Sian in Belgium I hope you and hubby are both ok..:imphrt:

                                Well the shed is in the garden so here I go...... I've been trying to get the padlock open on it all day on and off. :wallbanging: I needed the tools out of it for the allotment work. Tried wd40, wiggling the key. More wd40. Cursing the OH for not getting a new padlock when I asked for one. Gave up...... tried again later....got myself all wound up......gave up......OH came home. (Me) "I've been trying to get in the bl**dy shed all day that locks nackered. Please will you try" gave him the key. He took one look and said "that's not the key" very calmly took another key off the rack went outside and opened the shed. Rolled his eyes and smirked. :doh:
