WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2021

Agree it is a tad miserable out there now I made myself comfy in the greenhouse for a while but once the winds got to a certain speed I made a quick exit!!! I've got some prepared compost indoors so can do seed sowing later if I wish too.

 

How long have you had the Honda @Loofah ? I had mine 14 years and only gave it up because I couldn't get parts for it.

 

Yay :-) sweet peas have germinated! Yay because I didn't know you should soak the seeds before sowing. I checked the packet (later) and it doesn't say you should in the instructions.
- This is indoors...conservatory...not garden yet.

 

Rain, Sun, Rain, Sun, Sun, Rain - lovely British weather in Birmingham with winds that are howling!

All I've done today is nip in and out the garden to pick up flying empty plant pots.
Planted up some Dahlia bulbs into 3lt pots. I am not a massive fan but feel like everyone and their dog has them so jumping on said band wagon lol

On the subject of lawns. I do love a nice green lawn; especially in the summer rains when it is freshly cut

 

Half day off so back from work and plan is to prick out into trays dianthus and carnation seedlings that have come up in heated propagator. Hoping they will survive in gently heated greenhouse, it doesn’t go below 5 degrees over night and sits at 15-17 day time. Some fleece over at night will hopefully help.

As a First time flower grower, it’s all trial and error around full time working. Having got the growing bug while on furlough last year, I now realise it all takes a lot of time.

 

Nothing today apart from running out to rescue bird-feeders, bird-tables, etc, as they blow across the garden. 100+km wind gusts, and an exposed garden = windswept!!

And put some of the hanging plants out in the greenhouses for a sunbath.

 

I've been garden centre today and picked up 10 bags of compost for me and 5 for next door , 2 bags of john innes no3 and one ericaceous JInnes for the blueberries I potted up this afternoon .

Had a look round for a pot for one of my roses I've accidently bought these things happen , No nice pots around I fancied but did pick up one cheap 15L pot for one of the roses to be planted in temporarily.

Have only been up to the lotty to dismantle a grow tunnel that has ripped in the wind. Then watered and sprayed some plants in the greenhouse. Had a few blimmin greenflies in there-cheeky devils.

The weather has been horrible so have just spent the day indoors instead. Dotty had the right idea...

 

I'm surprised the body gave up too. Whether it's a Honda or Briggs and Stratton engine they were built to last back then. My machine was in good shape but I couldn't get parts for a new choke - so frustrating when there was nothing else wrong with it.

Could you use the wheels off the Honda? And any other parts for that matter?
