Yeah your correct but everyone knows them as Geraniums, so you try selling Pelargoniums and half the people wont know what they are.;)

Maybe they should suddenly, one year, brand them as Pelargoniums and everyone will think they are something new and rush to buy them.

Pete's right, a fair amount of gardeners refer to the Pelargoniums as Geraniums, noisette, when in fact, although they're in the same family of Geraniaceace they are not the same Genus as Geraniums. I think Pelargoniums were introduced in the 17th Century and somebody thought they looked like what really are Geraniums regarding the leaf formation and, of course, the trend was set!!
It's a bit like Bearded Iris who are in the Iradaceae Family but also called Germanica Iris or Flag Iris when, in fact, their real name is Pogon.:dunno::heehee:

They have totally different distinct petal formation so should be easy to tell apart  BUT I always forget which is which

@clanless having taken a closer look at the flowers it looks like (difficult to see) the purple ones are Pelargoniums and the others are Geraniums.

Looking further down the page the Concolor Lace are definitely Pel and not Ger. :) Unless they've changed the specifications again!

The word Zonal always gives it away ,and tells you they are talking about Pelargoniums

This years catalogue is only available as a download. Three years now and no one has noticed. Perhaps I should drop them a quick email do you think...
