WHAT'S LOOKING GOOD IN MARCH 21

That's a very interesting garden that you have there, my friend, along with a interesting range of plants and Shrubs I live in a soft part of Cheshire and you've got plants there that are weeks ahead of my garden...great video and loved the sound of the Rooks.

 

Another cloudy, dry, day with no breeze, so that made the 50f temperature feel reasonable so I was out on my knees again cleaning and clearing the bottom path. I took my ordinary hand Secateurs, and the electric Secateurs with me, along with two 300 litre garden sacks. I was trying to clear the inevitable debris from the Contractor cutting back the 93' long back fence to it's original height but also discovered a pile of pruning's from over the years, (decades really), along with other garden debris. There were quite a few thick Viburnum and Buddleia stems and boughs so the Electric Pruner did a really good job of cutting them into lengths that would go easily in the Sacks.
It's amazing just how, when you're on your knees grubbing out stuff from the paths how you see things in a different light and discover what is growing among the Shrubs that shouldn't be, and I found at least 3 wild, viciously thorned, Rambling Roses that shouldn't have been there. I also found out that the Viburnum is sending out new growth from natural layering so I will have to separate them and make new plants of them. All the while I was doing this the Frogs were croaking away so loudly that I thought they might be throwing a party!
In the end, I filled the Council Green Waste Bin to the brim and still have 3 300litre Garden sacks full of more pruning's and debris to fill the Bin when it gets emptied.
Just to make me feel I had done something more gardening than clearing paths, I potted up three Cirsiums in readiness for planting in a month or two.

Well, I think I have stopped the Viburnum from having any takeover ambitions, noisette, as I will be severing the new plants, tomorrow, from the original and potting them on. I think it's around 25 to 30 years old and, to be honest, it has been fairly well behaved although I did give it a major cut back a few weeks ago due to it becoming top heavy with some boughs leaning forward and obstructing the bottom path.
