This Saturday at 10 am. 1st jab of AZ . The NHS continue to do an outstanding job . Moving towards some sort of normality - 76% protection with this first jab.

 

I'm only guessing here - but I would have said that the first jab will be the worst. By the time you have your 2nd jab - your immune system is ready to go and immediately reacts to the second dose. The first dose is the one which gets things moving and puts more stress on the immune system.

I'm not really bothered about feeling a little iffy for a day or so - the alternative is far worse.

 

I've heard that AZ is worst on first jab and Pfizer worst on second.

 

It seems that one dose of AZ is enough to save lives. Boris was right to be guided by the boffins and prioritise 1st jabs for as many people as possible:

A paper published in The Lancet on Phase III clinical trials from the UK, Brazil and South Africa reported no severe cases and no hospitalisations after 22 days following the first dose being administered.

 

Looks like the EU are now running the show regarding vaccine availability in the UK.

Strange we have been told there will be a slow down of vaccinations in April.

Get the impression that Boris has backed down and allowing AZ to put more vaccine the EUs way.

A bit odd bearing in mind the EU have millions of un used doses already and they have spent the last three months slagging off the AZ vaccine so half the people over there wont accept it.

Did see something that I'm not sure about.
But they are saying pressure was being brought to bear, in high places in Europe, by the other vaccine manufacturers to give the AZ version a bad time, as it is non profit making, so for every one AZ vaccine used its loss of profit for the Pfizer and Moderna etc. that are yet to come.

 

As I understand it - the slow down in AZ vaccinations is due to extra tests on a batch that has already been made and India produced AZ vaccine being diverted by the Indian Government for their own use. I really can't criticise India for taking the decision to protect their vulnerable population - here in the UK the shortage is a temporary blip with Moderna delivering a load of doses in April. Yes those under 50 in the UK may have to wait a little bit longer but they will still benefit from a measure of protection from the people around them who have already been jabbed.

Boris was looking to agree a system for accelerating production of vaccines here and in the EU - the EU stopped short of banning vaccine exports.

AZ are peeved because they are selling at cost, they have potentially lost millions in profit and the misinformation from the EU has hit their share prices. It seems perverse that a company that is putting saving lives above profit should find itself in this position. Thank God they were willing to step forward into the breach.

People will look back on this time and realise that AZ were in fact the major player in bringing the virus under control.

 

I also saw something about the UK sending 3.7million doses to the Irish republic.

 

After a bit of a restless night feeling a lot better this morning a bit like the aftermath of a nasty cold.

Got 2nd jab booked for 1st April.

I could be at full immunity by the time hols are allowed on 12th April

I wont reveal how short a time I had to wait for the 2nd jab incase the EU are watching

 

We were back in Morrisons today. Quite a few people in there - the older ladies and gentlemen were, dare I say it, somewhat 'loose' when it came to social distancing and wearing masks. Well, why not, they've had their jabs - who cares if someone like me gets Covid-19 - rather that than go through the hassle of wearing a face mask.

 

I agree, we have noticed the same in the last few weeks with customers coming to the G/C. Just because they have had both jabs, there is still rules regarding wearing a face mask, social distancing and following our one way system plus entrance and exit rules.

 

Make sure that the people that give you the jab haven't been breaking the lockdown rule
