@Flumpy @Upsydaisy Just finished playing bridge. Plant looks like a Cordyline. :)

It's semi-hardy to hardy. So in really bad weather it may get damaged. Strong winds can affect leaves. For very hard winter mulch it. It looks to be in a good position.

Gosh @shiney ..... I've so much to learn!! How do you tell the difference, they all look the same to me.
I do know for sure that my parents had the other one as Mum kept a garden plan book and it was in there. Dad wasn't that keen on it I think!!

Hope you had a good game of bridge tonight.

      Aloha everyone,

@Upsydaisy They're not too difficult to tell apart because of the way they grow. Cordylines tend to appear to grow from a stem and have thinner leaves. Phormium tend to appear to grow bushy from the ground and have thicker leaves.

Today we're having our first visitors in ages - lunch and dinner. I've told them to bring themselves accompanied by jumpers and coats. :) This is instead of our regular six person Zoom. If the wind is blowing across the field I may even take the opportunity to have the bonfire. It's now 8ft high and 10ft diameter so should keep us warm for a while :heehee: It will be too hot for toasting forks :rolleyespink:

We're getting on well with the gardening and the thousands of primroses are really getting into their thing now. The cowslips are a lot slower. Lewis, who helps with the garden, says it's his favourite garden although the work is much harder. We're forever having to dig out plants that have got too rampant and he takes some of them to plant at the top of a hill where he and his girlfriend go to sit. It's an untended wildlife area that the council own and overlooks a lake. Yesterday he took a lot of baby primroses (about 50 that have popped up in the lawn alongside a bed with wild primroses) and some of the cyclamen that had also popped up in the same spot. I could then mow there :blue thumb: He also took a load of Hellebores that had gone mad in a bed and were too close to the edge of the lawn .

      Keep well

      Aloha!

How is everyone today, haven't eaten too many Easter Eggs have you and now feeling all chocolated out ??:heehee:

Much cooler and cloudier day here for us today. As I said before I hope this will serve to keep the touristy places quieter this weekend.
Yesterday we had a lot of bigger groups of walkers , one group of 9 walkers did bother to wear any masks or to keep to the social distancing rules....not one single person!!
Made my blood boil, I had to be restrained from opening my mouth to them !!

Have a lovely day whatever you're up to, have a great day @shiney .:campfire:

We never buy Easter eggs and any given to us get given away. We always tell our friends never to give us chocolates, biscuits etc.:nonofinger: as Mrs Shiney is diabetic. Do they listen? :wallbanging: . They get given away very quickly. Our new neighbours have a young girl (first young kid in our stretch of road for years) so she's going to be lucky. :heehee: I'll ask her mother first.

To be honest we don't eat any ourselves either @shiney but I do buy them for the children that are in our lives. Currently this is just our two 3yr old great nephews. As they undoubtedly end up getting loads we all just buy a small Easter related chocolate item for them. Some eggs are so huge these days!:yikes:

Thanks Shiney that’s a good help, looks like I’ve got both in our garden (a bit of tropical) in our garden :) I now know how to look after them :dbgrtmb:

Good morning all, sunshine forecast for later so more pruning dead plants back and more painting to be done
                I’m starving what’s for breakfast?

Morning all, shocked at how frosty it is this morning. I nipped put before bedtime last night and through a blanket over the back pear tree (that was full of blossom) and another blanket ovr a couple of tender shrubs in pots by the back door. I wish Id had more blankets/covers to hand to put over all the newly sprouting perennials but they will just have to get on with it now.

                      Aloha everyone,

                      Good news @Upsydaisy :blue thumb:

No frost today and supposed to be sunny.

I have a busy day with three family Zooms and Shiney's meals on wheels Sunday dinner to cook. First Zoom is at 11 a.m. so will mess with my cooking timings :noidea:. I can't change the Zoom time as it's with Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and Israel. I'll get the proper Covid updates from them and not just the rumours and 'selected news' that we get in the media.

                      Keep well

                      Aloha!

                        Good morning everyone!:)

Same here too @snorky. Doubled fleeced the plants that are in the bubble wrapped section of the greenhouse, and covered all the Dahlias ( still hoping that they are all alive and kicking...only time will tell) ...but I expect ,as usual , we will lose the cherries ( it's either the frost or birds) and also one particular apple tree tends to have a grump for the rest of the season if it gets hit by frost. :fingers crossed:The plum, pear and other apple tree seem bit hardier. They're all too big to throw a fleece or a blanket over, so there is not much we can really do about it....except grumble at the potential loss of fruit.

Lovely and sunny out there now.

Just seen your post @shiney ...thank you !

No set plans for today, might get to see my brother.

Have a super Easter Sunday everyone.....keep keeping safe!:dbgrtmb:

Sunday everyone! The frost has just thawed out here and there’s a big blanket of fog on the hills.
My sweet peas and teddybear seeds are in my little greenhouse, do you think I should put them in the shed tonight?? :what:It’s got a window in it, And I think I best wrap my chordyline too :yikes:

                            Morning @Flumpy !:)

I keep mine in the greenhouse , well fleeced up in the bubble wrapped section. To be honest just a fleece would probably be enough , have you now got a glass greenhouse?
