Hi ... youre a bit late sowing best to sow January February ..... but if you want to give a go sow thinly on the surface of compost and cover slightly with vermiculite .. water from the bottom ie place the pot or seed tray in a tray of water and let it soak it up then take out and let it drain

once growing only feed after 7 or 8 weeks use a weak solution

the only downside is the flower quality may not be that good after spending so much time on looking after them

I'd agree with @Spruce - the named varieties of auricula are so much better than the mixed ones, that it is worth the difference. If you just want simple primulas, why not just go for mixed polyanthus or P. denticulata.

Over the years I have grown a lot of Auriculas from seed(from the Primula Society) and yes the open pollinated ones are not always that good, but still worth doing. I have a lot of very nice plants out in the garden giving a fine show. Give it a go, you never know you may get a prize winner. The named crosses from the Society are usually decent looking flowers.

you have hit the button on the head, its getting hold of good quality seed. The delphinium society I am in sell its own seed what a difference to what you get from the mail order companies or shops etc with the plants
