Money over lives - again - very sad

Most hospitals in Delhi and many other cities in India have completely run out of beds, forcing people to find ways to get treatment for sick patients at home. But even that is proving to be a difficult task as prices of oxygen cylinders, concentrators and essential medicines have skyrocketed on the black market.

The UK economy is set to grow at its fastest rate on record this year, experts have predicted.

Of course it will - people have over a years worth of spending to catch up on - the EU won't like it though...

That is appalling Jenny, is that referring to India? They have just passed the 200,000 death toll, but their recording system is very unreliable and is more likely to be 4 times that figure.

We have strong links with Nepal and a lot of Nepalese people work in India but maybe now desperate to return home in the light of India's Covid crisis.
Nepal is very poor and ill equipped to handle an epidemic.
I do hope and pray it doesn't get there,

We come out of a State of Emergency tomorrow into a State of Calamity (that always makes me chuckle) and things go back to normal as such maintaining safety of masks, distance and cleanliness. Hours of shops, restaurants, etc will be limited slightly.
However, the borders to Spain open up!
                    :hate-shocked:

We have been warned that if we "misbehave" there will be no hesitation of shut down again with which I agree.

Happy State of Calamity, Victoria!

Turkey is now in its first proper lockdown, and at the same time welcomes also British tourists. The restrictions are for the locals and the tourism industry is running pretty much as usual. My Turkish friend says that the leading politician deciding on the lockdown rules is a major stakeholder in the tourism industry. My friend has just recovered from the illness, thankfully she didn't need to go to hospital. But I can see how hard it was and still is even though the symptoms are gone.

I'm checking the vaccination booking site several times a day, but as a non- driver it doesn't look like I'm getting it very soon.

Mrs JWK and I were both phoned and offered jabs at the nearest centre. Prior to that I was checking online and the only availability was miles away, I have heard others say the same thing, it seems the online booking site only offers the major vaccination hubs.

We both had our second jabs today, also my 40 year old son got his first.

I read that and thought  Good luck to them.

We have a number now to call if you want the vaccine before they contact you. Centers are opening everywhere. You can choose your location and time. If you don't like what's available, they will change it. Dates are usually within days. I am hesitating as I am in Intensive Physiotherapy three times a week ... and shattered the other days. :phew:

Our county is large and we only have 11 active cases and Algarve has 3 out of 16 with no cases. :yay: Algarve has only 21 in hospital.

Talking of transport, I heard the other day that we have 28 seater buses running around and they are only allowed to carry 17 people maximum.
This can't go on, it's getting ridiculous, people are being left at bus stops by half empty buses .

I know I don't get out much but I notice buses are mostly empty around here. Some of the local coach companies have gone bust as well.
