DSC_0052.JPG This is a plant I grew from seed that fell into my pocket:whistle:, when I visited Ventnor botanical gardens a couple of years ago.
Pretty sure it a legume and remember the plant as being about 7 ft high.
Would like to know so as to get some idea how hardy it is.
    Some kind of Broom perhaps.

Gosh, you are the person I would ask ... or @strongylodon

Sort of looks familiar ... maybe Caragana arborescens - Siberian Peashrub ... what colour was the flower?

Why not just email them that image, saying you thought you saw something similar/same whilst there, and ask them what it is? Don't ask, don't get.

My first thought was 'Pistachio'. Not Pistacia lentiscus, the true Pistachio vera? But it's a dead ringer for Caragana as well.

The leaflets are slightly hairy, and it was definitely a pea like, but small pod.

Cant see why Ventnor would be growing a Siberian pea.

What a handsome specimen of Reynoutria japonica you accidentally acquired Pete

What do you think of Phyllanthaceae? Something in the family might not be far off

Well it is a good suggestion, but I still think it was a legume, unless I'm remembering wrong.

Well it wouldn't exactly be taking advantage of it's position, but I do see your point.

Can you remember which part of the garden @pete as I recall it is organised into different Continents, might help to know its origin.
