Sarcococca from cuttings and/or seeds

Has anybody propagated from cuttings and/or seed? We walk past a mass of these most days znd Mrs Scrungee has asked for some. There are some shrivelled berries still on them.

@shiney and @NigelJ As you have these, have you propagated from them?

 

@Scrungee They also sucker.I grew some S hookeriana from seed a few years ago. I cleaned the seeds and sowed them in autumn and just left them outside. I had seedlings late spring/early summer, repotted and then planted them out about 2 years later.
Seeing other posts I would suggest cuttings.

 

Are there different kinds of this shrub?

As I had one grown from seed some years ago and the scent was not that strong, and not what I would call pleasant, more like cats pee.

 

Thanks for all the responses. Collected a few seeds this afternoon. @shiney can you provide some instructions for cuttings, I'm going past them again tommorow . I have cutting compost, MPC, perlite, vermiculite, silver sand and rooting hormone.

 

One other piece of advice.

Dont get caught.

 

About 6 species apparently; I've got three S confusa, S hookeriana and S wallachi; the first two from seed collected in different places and the last was bought because I liked the look of it.

 

I put about a dozen cuttings in 2 pots during March, one died and although the others stilll appear dark green, glossy and healthy, none of them have made any roots whatsoever.

 

I get Mrs Shiney to do mine for me
