I potted up the two small Dahila tubers I found yesterday, and planted two packs of Gladioli that I should have done ages ago, some of them were sprouting.
Did a lot of watering, it's so dry ...

Not much done today. We had some flower arrangers come round to take buckets full of flowers and foliage for a competition (One of them was an award winner at the Chelsea Flower show) as we give cutting rights for competitors and demonstrators as well as providing foliage for church festivals. It helps keep the shrubs, hedges and perennials cut back :heehee:

Currently waiting for the rain to stop and then out to collect snails and slugs lulled into a false sense of security by the cool damp rain.
Turn compost heap, water on slug control nematodes.
Pick strawberries, make strawberry ice cream.

Not a lot really as we have more rain due this afternoon+ I'm not feeling too good either. I want to stake some more of the taller plants as they've got really battered by the recent rain, a lot have actually snapped.

I am also making up a bouquet to take up to the cemetery for my dear Dad too.

Not a drop of rain! Anyways, I have been most uncharacteristically organised, and consolidated and simplified the collection of small pots that was totally getting out of hands. It will be an interesting display when the various bits and pieces chucked together in large containers start flowering.

Anyways, the freed space prompted a new seating area between the new pond and Rosemary. Quite nice in the gentle evening light.
                    herbseat.jpg

Painted some pots. Unlike @CanadianLori my painting aims to get rid of any hint of colour. :heehee:

                    From this to this
                    ruukku1.jpg

And with a little help of air dry clay and garden string from this to this:
                    paintedpots.jpg

Re-organised and showered houseplants in my "study" and considered dusting the shelves.

Ordered chicken wire, I will finally build an outdoor run for our Degus.

Today I will plant the big bowl up and possibly again consider dusting. :)

On Slug & Snail patrol then mixed some Tomato feed with Seaweed extract. Fed and tied Toms and Sunflowers.
Now going to have Egg on Toast for lunch.

Nothing outdoors in the damp so went through my seed (shoe) boxes again! I have two sets od A-Z cards, one for flora, one for veg, plus keep label sticks, pens, sellotape, etc in them. Found Purple, Lemon, Clove and Cinnamon Sage seeds from 2015 :hate-shocked: but who cares. I wrote some labels and I will plant tomorrow when it is dry. Also found Jack be Little Pumpkin seeds so will plant them at the base of the Prunus cerasifera ‘Pissardi Plum' on the kitchen patio which is hot as hell South Facing.

PS I have narrowed things down ... I don't have the middle box now. :heehee:

Also looking up florally things on the net.

Well I have been putting a new fence up. Had the main posts soaking in creosote for the last 3 months, then I stained (3 coats) all the timber ready for the build.

Posts were concreted in on Thursday, then since 6.00am Saturday I have been at it until the jobs finished. Now I have to do exactly the same at the rear of the house, that can wait, I need a rest.

Planted the Big Bowl up and ended up reshuffling all the various bits of succulent cuttings and seedlings. The Teenager says (after some gentle guidance) that my bowl is "Insta-worthy". "Nice" is just not good enough when one has spent the whole afternoon perfecting the planting scheme and getting severly wounded by the thorns.

I may not be in the front of the line when Good Mothering Points are distributed but at least I know the terminology

I managed to mow yesterday before the rain came last night. It was a much welcomed downpour and everything looks better for it today.

I managed to get some trellis up onto the fence panels for the clematis as they have both grown far too big for the trellis so tied them in and hopefully they are happy.

Just pottering about doing small jobs. Almost sold out of resin seascapes at one shop, so busy making more. Dead headed Geums and my patio rose ( buns enjoyed the roses ), planted up a recently bought dwarf sunflower, moved a couple of young Toadflax from a bath and planted in another bath and a couple into the back and side gardens. Yesterday evening I made a start on clearing a small area in the back garden border. It has become overwhelmed by Dandelions and a large Aqualegia that stubbornly refused to flower this year ( no idea why ). Removed as much of the dandelions as I could, some of the roots I just couldn't get out, seemed to have grown down into gravel and then vanished. Added fresh soil and bit of compost and back planted with two Phlox and a link Toadflax. Still got more clearing to do around the purple Loosestrife. Maybe later today or tomorrow.

One of the Robins has injured his/her leg. Has to keep sitting down to rest and clearly struggling to get around. I've been giving him/ her food and kept the bird baths filled right up to make it easier to get a drink. Poor little bean .
