We've been out this morning so when we got home we had a Pitta Pockets stuffed with chicken and a red cabbage, grated carrot and red onion salad with a Sweet Chilli dressing + yoghurt and freshly picked strawberries.....it's a race to keep up with them and to beat the birds to them!!

I'm doing a lot of chicken cooking today.

A whole load of roasted chicken wings done with herbs and garlic for keeping in the fridge to go with lunchtime salads or to have as snacks when feeling peckish (instead of chocolate or crisps).

About a gallon of chicken soup with a lot of carrots, turnip and home made very light dumplings - they'll float in the soup :blue thumb:.

A large chicken casserole for guests for lunch tomorrow and for us to have on Saturday. The usual flavourings - onion. garlic, herbs (fresh from the garden), maybe a touch of fresh ginger, lots of veg and wine. Haven't decided yet whether to do it with minted new pots or mustard mash.

An hour ago we heard that a 90 year lady living a mile away has had a fall (not serious) but has badly bruised her legs and grazed her knees. So Mrs Shiney took round some freshly made mushroom soup and some of the roasted chicken wings (cold) for her to have as nibbles. They're good and tasty finger food. :)

Family coming for lunch out on the deck. So it's gourmet hamburgers (ground chuck, cheese, bacon, and some spices mixed in) on the barbecue, potato salad and cole slaw. And a black forest cake with vanilla ice cream.

Batch cooking, take 750g mince, copious amounts of tinned toms, cheeses, bechamel, nice pasta and Herbes du Maison which I intentionally pronounce like a disease much to the distress of The Teenager who is fluent in French

We don't agree on spelling but the freezer and tummies are full.

It is 4th of July so we are having Southern Fried Chicken Crispy Strips and Battered Onion Rings done in the oven. T'other Half will put Jindungo on his before cooking.

He uses ground Jindungo. He also has sauce made by our Portuguese friend whose mother brings the chillies from Angola where he was born.

@Victoria If I remember correctly, Jindungo is the same as Bird's Eye chillies and I remember it from Mozambique and Madagascar. I think they also called it by its Portuguese name of Malagueta. Who said I'm a chilli nutcase? :heehee: I might even have a photo somewhere in the fruit and veg market in Madagascar. I'll have a look later.
