WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2021

Dug out Salvia 'Caradonna' from my new border and planted it in a nice glazed pot, planted Veronicastrum 'Album' and Eryngium yuccifolium in it.

Thank you @Fat Controller that's only from a few plants, got more in the back garden. Shame about yours sometimes that happens with them.

 

Not sure yet, potter round greenhouse plants . After the rain has cleared clear up buddleja prunings, inspect buddleja and probably cut a few more branches off.

 

It was a lovely, warm night yesterday and a slight overdose of Pinot Grigio fuelled some late evening gardening. The lawn got cut (fairly well), the weeds in the cracks got pulled out (resulting into a mighty bruise on the less wrinkly end of my person) and something got scrubbed in the pond judging by the fact that I found my nail brush on the edge this morning. I'm gathering stamina to look into the pond later on.

Tonight it will be half a cup of weak tea, consumed slowly. The hedge must get a proper trim before the council comes knocking at my door.

 

The main thing is that you were still fully dressed, you didn't render 'Bohemian Rhapsody' at the top of your voice or that your garden isn't overlooked

Picked some loganberries they'll go in the freezer

and raspberries to go to on our breakfast cereal

 

Well, all I can say is that I appreciate your reference of a good character @noisette47 , it might come in handy.

Anyways, with a renewed vigour I made a start with the hedges. Apparently my neighbours have all been murdered in their beds as the annual "Selleri is trimming her hedge" street party didn't happen.

My lovely neighbours stop just short of pulling armchairs on the street, hanging bunting and offering home baked goods across the fences but usually I get at least 10 references to bingo wings of not being a worry for me, and five bantery "I think you missed a bit there Luv"s ("Luv" is what you turn into once located in the North East ) and one tired looking dog being walked past by five different neighbours. The lowest point was last year when the only bus going on our street stopped to allow the driver to instruct me on the levelness of the top my hedge.

In the first year my lovely neighbours suggested a power strimmer but after some observance they agreed that power tools might not be the most sensible choice for me. So at least those comments have stopped.

I got tired of looking at dirt with hopeful expectations. So I carefully removed the Atlantis sedum root. But I am still hopeful so I put it in a pot.

Weeding.

Tried to trim the edges of the lawn but gave up. I will trim when I get some sharp shears. Today, mine proved they don't like the fine fine blades of the new grass I've managed to coax into growing along the fence line.

Now I'm sitting having a fruit drink. Okay, it's fermented.

 

Watering and weeding, while the wheat harvest goes on all around. The pussies will be busy tonight!

 

Watered garden early doors and then planted out some gem lettuce and mixed leaf rip and regrow lettuce……i few betroot had lifter out of the ground, so took them out and cut the leaves for salad and put the betroot in some water ready to cut up on a salad later for the Mrs

 

Picked some more blackcurrants and cut out some of the old branches that won't fruit next year.

 

I potted on the Kiss of Death Hibiscus seedlings and the Tamarillo trees. I planted 5 Carissa seeds and some black grape seeds for fun.

 

Potted on some more wallflowers and a bit of watering.

 

I am a bit disappointed that slug nematodes seem to to be out of stock everywhere. They would have been the ideal solution given all the rain in the last few weeks.
Some new species of slug seems to have landed in my garden. I have never seen before anything like that. Cucumbers emptied out, a thick tomato stalk munched at the base. They even decapitated a few chilli plants.
Pellets do not seem to work anymore.

So I removed several dozens slugs and snails, trimmed the edges and added some canes and wires for stuff to climb on, away from the molluscs hopefully.

The weather forecast is very good though, looking forward to the weekend!
