@Sheal I was too hasty a couple of days ago saying we don't have any vaccination proof.

Looks like we do, see roder's post above.

I guess you might have something similar available from the Scottish NHS, it might be worth checking beforehand if the Hotels you visit need such a thing.

Thanks John. Yes I read Roders post and we do have a similar NHS site here but I don't use it. Mr S rang the hotel and they said hotels in England don't need proof of the vaccine.

The Plaza looked very jolly last week :-

        IMG_0542.JPG

The precise meaning of all this remains unclear, however, this week we have a huge walk-through mobile trailer parked here, and those who still lack the vaccine will be seen to.
I´ve not heard any negativity regarding the jab, that is probably restricted to Órgiva, a nearby town where society is comparatively wild and untamed. Shakespeare was even moved to write a sonnet --
I dreamed I did die and to Heaven did go,
And where had I come from they wanted to know.
I said "I´m from Órgiva" - how they did stare.
"Come in," said Saint Peter, "You´re the first one from there."

A girlfriend of one of our sons who spent the week end with us( and returned home on Sunday) has just notified us that she had had contact with a person who unknowingly has Covid....just hope two of our sons will be OK.....one will be here with us all week. Another son and his girlfriend have had their two jabs now. Just shows you how it's so easily spread.

I've just read this and it has changed my mind - face masks, 2m distance, the lot - it's all staying in place regardless of what Mark says.

Dr Catherine Monaghan, a consultant in respiratory medicine at the University Hospital of North Tees said:

"We are planning for war and praying for peace."

Dr Monaghan says the NHS will cope but the behaviour of local communities from 19 July will determine how serious the challenge will be.

"We are praying that the public do maintain some sense of perspective on this - somewhere between everybody being locked down and getting what they want."

I had a vision of lockdown in October 2021 when I looked out the window LAST October.

I think I mentioned this before ,but two of our sons have friends who are Drs in various big London Hospitals . Early this year when we were discussing good times to come up and see their new homes , the eldest seemed wary saying his friends said all their colleagues in the NHS were very concerned of what might take hold from Aug onwards.

I always try to be optimistic but in this case not when the public are left to interpret the guidelines for themselves, sadly the past had proved that some clearly need boundaries that are set in stone.

My personal thoughts are that the government are seeing that they can't hold the line much longer.
The infection rate had dropped so low, due to the vaccine that if they had not started the process of removing restrictions there would be all kinds of problems for them.
Not just trying to police the restrictions, but also the economy.

If we do end up going backwards at some point then it will pretty much bear our that nothing is likely to change for years to come, and was there really a point in the vaccine.

Sadly I do actually agree with you pete.
The worry for the NHS , and of course for us the public, it that waiting lists with be extended , so many lives will undoubtedly still be lost......and this time around not mostly through Covid.

I think, atm, the government are in a lose, lose situation .
Let's hope infections do level off at some point and then start to fall again.
The strange thing is that the media are bombarding us with daily figures and only giving one side of the story.

At no other medical emergency have we tested so many people each day, broadcast the results and told us how many people have been hospitalised each day.
Let's also have the figures of how many positives each day are asymptomatic, how many are mildly ill.
All they keep showing is people with oxygen masks on, we have never done that before.

"The strange thing is that the media are bombarding us with daily figures and only giving one side of the story." I agree pete, although I´m not sure how strange it is ...

As I understand it, any news medium has the primary aim of making maximum profits.
When shareholders are concerned, a company has a legal requirement to maximise profits over and above other considerations.
Given this situation, I can´t think of any organisation which has a fiscal imperative to tell us the truth, there is always a more profitable alternative.
Whether those profits arise from their daily business, or back-door subsidies from the Establishment is something we should not worry our pretty little heads about.
I think the safest attitude when hearing the news is "Why do they want me to think that ?"
