Is that before they made the criteria less stringent, or after ?

I would "assume" you can deduct those hospitalised from the daily total to get you that number.

The UK's number today is a bit eye watering!

pete wonders, " ... how many are mildly ill."
I´ve had both jabs, and three weeks after the second, I had a sore throat for three days.
I stayed home in case I was going down with the virus, but symptoms subsided.
Where the statistics would have placed me, and whether I was infectious at any time, seems unquantifiable both individually and nationally.
      We really haven´t a clue.
And in the midst of covid and the recent football racism, Boris tries to rally the voters by waving the English cross of St George, beloved by the thugs on the Far Right, but hardly a symbol of a United Kingdom.
I´m sure any resemblance to Trump is purely coincidental.

The cross of St George is the English flag, why should it be connected with the far right anymore than "Taking the Knee" ( talk about a good way to stir up racialism), is supposed to be connected to the political organisation of Black Lives Matter.

We are not a United Kingdom anymore ask Nicola Sturgeon.

As for your sore throat, did you take a test, no, then you cant become a statistic.;)

I thought we had got over blaming Trump for everything.:roflol:

Sorry, I thought you wanted to know the numbers of the asymptomatic so I meant take the hospitalised from the total. I am lost if they give you both numbers.

Hospitalisation would only give the number of those seriously ill, with those who are in the middle ground (between 'a bit under the weather' through to 'heavy cold') unknown. This is the difficulty with using 'cases' as the driver for the decisions that follows, especially when the tests that determine what a 'case' actually are not 100% accurate. Sure, they seem to fail 'safe' in that they will give a false positive rather than a false negative, but that won't be much comfort to anyone when there is nobody left working to pay for the NHS.

It's only a small local example but our village hall (quite a busy place) is sticking to current restrictions and limiting the number of users to the guidelines limitations, masks to be worn, distancing, ventilation and certain areas are out of bounds. These restrictions may be eased as we know more.

              Never installed it.

But for those that have, if the current weekly increase of 46% to 520,000/week continues:

              Next week there will be 982K isolating (520K x 1.46 = 759K ) + (520K ÷7 x 3 = 223K still isolating from current week)

In 2 weeks there will be 1.43 million pinged isolating (982K x 1.46)

In 3 weeks there will be 2.08 million pinged isolating

In 4 weeks ( 13th August) there will be 3.05 million pinged isolating

Etc. until 16th August when the isolating rules change

And those figures are just for the pinged and don't include all of those tested positive and isolating, isolating after foreign travel, nor for the increase that will follow the end of restrictions next week.

I shall continue to wear a mask in shops. I don't know how much protection it gives but I don't have problems with wearing one so I might as well.

I thought these were the positives isolating at home.
