Late afternoon Munchkin and Van always retire to The Reading Room. It is the coolest spot of the garden being at the North East corner. She is always on the lounger, he underneath. She often sleeps on it and he curls up tucked between the air/heating unit and the rainwater tank (now redundant) to the left.

Oh I agree Michael. These Poppets never go far although they sometimes pop into the orchards or roll around on the lane! Mostly they are within the boundaries. They will sit on the planters behind the lounger and stay even when the tractor trundles by. But Van is wary of people, even our friends, and runs and hides indoors under the bed! We have had a friend and his two sons here painting the house and walls and he spent his entire time under the bed ... this photo was taken after they left yesterday and he ventured out. He is under the bed now because Andy came to get his ladders but has left. Makes you wonder what happened to him before he found his way to us ... but we will never know.

I wonder if someone frightened Van but they are all different anyway, and react differently.
A friend of mine has two cats, brother and sister. She's had them from tiny kittens but the tom cat is very nervy and runs away from everyone. The female doesn't care, she's much more brazen.
This friend, years ago, had another two cats from when they were kittens, a brother and sister again, and they were the same, tom cat very nervous and she cat didn't care.
We've had shes mainly and I have found them to be much more cheeky than toms.
