Lovely blooms. I have a bracelet similar to yours Philip. Can't tell, is yours woven or beaded?

      "Aah", says Foxy Molly.

@Victoria ,..we have had a spell of nice blue sky for days plus the very warm days as well,..yesterday we had torrents of rain,..no complaints about that as it waited until night time to fall.

Those swans with the orange beaks are our usual ones,..Mute Swans,..the yellow beaked are Bewick's Swans who spend the winter in Artic Russia they visit the UK and Ireland.

I posted the image below just 9 days ago,..pointing out the Buddleia and its very long blooms,..i didn't take much notice then of the bush to the left and just back a piece,..look at it now.

More of its species though not as full or tall,..it could well be because the big one is in a very dry sandy location.

Yellow Loosestrife,..described as Garden Loosestrife,..strange thing about this plant is that insects will not even land on it and likewise with Bees,..gardeners did keep it to ward off insects.

Great pics Philip, love the Herons. We ,as kids, use be on look out duty for them in our garden as my Dad had two large ponds, although my Dad only kept what we called 'ordinary Koi' our neighbour kept very expensive ones that he had flown over from Japan!!

Does the Yellow Loosestrife have a pungent aroma that wards off the insects ?

Funny that insects won't land on that plant, you'd think it would need them for pollination.

Hi Upsydaisy,..it has no scent at all,..not supposed to be toxic though some people claim burns,..the stems are a tad sticky,..the only insect to light on it is the one type of Bee and no other,.. that is Macrobsis labiata.

Local farmers use it to keep insects off horses a donkeys,..it may be down to the fine hairs on the plant and would have the same result as touching some cactus plants :dunno:.

So i took you back to when you were a youngster :),..ah yes its a must keeping an eye open for Herons when one has Koi,..even as you described the 'Ordinary ones',..Herons love fish,..the very expensive ones are a huge price.

Hi Michael,..only one type of Bee visits it and that is Macropsis labiata and no insects,.. makes it a strange plant,..it is certainly known to keep insects off Horses and Donkeys when they have saddle sores or collar sores,..its known to stop bleeding but then again so does Spiders Webs :)
