Our fire has gone but now there is one in Loule, East of us with 83 Firemen, 20 vehicles and 7 in the air. We are 32c now, under a high heat warning and fire alert warning. These are usually started by careless smokers ... or arsonists!!!

 

4pm, and the sun has just come out, its now going to do its impression of late afternoon in summer, followed by a glorious sunset.

 

The fire is not improving due to awkward access and the wind. There are now two active fronts and there are now 197 operatives, 56 vehicles and 9 air assets (four medium aircraft, three helicopters – one heavy and two light – and two for coordination). They have to go to the sea for water but if necessary dip into private swimming pools nearby.

Lovely day today, just right for a day in the garden, did get a tad too warm by mid afternoon though.

Fire Update:
"53 people, from 30 houses, have preventively abandoned their homes, following the fire that has raged since around 1:45 pm in the Amendoeira/Carvalhal area, in Loulé. 16 animals were also displaced. The fire continues with two active fronts: the Southwest, which consumes an area of forest, is the one that offers the greatest concern, The “difficult accesses” still do not allow the tracking machines to come into action. The flames are limited to the municipality of Loulé and mobilize 212 operators, 66 vehicles and six air vehicles."

Loulé borders our county of Silves but we are not at risk. We are still 28c and windy.

 

So glad that you both and the Furballs are safe Vicky. Is it also windy where the fires are too?, that would just serve as to fan the fires out to other areas.

We are Faro District below that map. The fire is now "resolved" with only one vehicle and five operatives still there. They were windier than us today. Our wind is now calmer. Hopefully it stays calm overnight. We are still under Extreme high heat warnings ... joy!

We've had a lovely summer day with lots of warm sunshine and blue skies. A few fluffy clouds appeared about mid day but then went away again and it has been a warm sunny evening.

We are forecast rain in the middle of the night but I don't mind because it means Bella cat will come in and I can sleep better when I know where she is ... now isn't that daft
