Anyone ever had any rogue seeds? I’ve just found a yellow cherry which I know I never ordered. Unfortunately I don’t know what it should be because I’ve lost the label!

I bought a purple variety one year that turned out to be yellow. Tasteless and floury if I remember correctly so not a winner!

Today's picking of polytunnel cherry toms, just under 1Kg. Still very slow.

Also picked 370g of outdoor Red Alerts. Also very slow.

Only a few small green fruits and flowers on the beefsteaks.

First pick of Costoluto Fiorentino. I probably could've left it on the vine a little longer. But I've got plenty more coming in.

Not a fan of the flavour for me, though I will admit it does have flavour (I'm not a fan of salad tomatoes on their own). DH liked it though, so I think it's approved! I still have some seeds so I will grow at least one of these next year, it's nice that it's set so early.

These are Heirloom. I'm not going to save seed this year while I still have some left, but once those are sown I will save. Even if just to sell plants from. OH has promised me a greenhouse when we move and apparently the village has a regular locals-market in the village hall car park in the summer so I wonder if I can do some plant sales that way. This year I grew 50+ tomato plants and sold them all!

It's days like this I miss my greenhouse. I should have an abundance of toms by now but everything is growing outside and it's miserable out there!

I have 5 x Plastic Grow Houses full of Tomato plants and a few in the open ground, the ones in open ground are doing so much better, work that out as I can't.

@Susieshoe it does happen, not just tomato seed it's everything else. Many possibilities, such as: the seed packers not cleaning their machines between batches or genetic variation can throw up the odd rogue.

I've got one variegated nasturtium growing this year. I did wonder if it was truly a random genetic variation or just a seed from the variegated nasturtiums I know they sell!

I finally got a greenhouse up late last year.

I've grown a sort of odd mix this year. Tigerella, Sweet Casaday, Black Russian, Flame and Marmande Superprecoce.
We've had a few off them all but unfortunately I haven't grown tomatoes in (quite) a few years having not had a greenhouse for some time and could have done a better job of pruning and training. Hey ho next year they will be better.

Just pulled out all my toms, the weather has beaten me this year.
Never seen so much blight this early.

One plant had grown much bigger and better than the rest, it was black cherry, but there was nothing on it I felt like tasting, all split and manky.

That's a shame Pete, we all look forward to tasting our own grown ones rather that the crap shop bought Tomatoes.

Do and any of your neighbours have the same problem?

It been a poor year all round IMO, but we will go again next season.

I'm having to prune out mouldy leaves, Botrytis (grey mould) is on my plants. It's a combination of high humidity and cold nights. I am now keeping vents and doors open all the time, even over-night. Probably will let blight in. This is usually what happens in September at the end of the growing season:

Black Cherry is the biggest for me too, loads of fruit but few ripening:

I've got trusses of up to around 40 cherry tomatoes on my polytunnel toms, but very few are ripening.

I'm intending to progressively cover all most of the mesh ventilation this month with poly covered panels, but wary of botrytus.
