    Hi everyone,
First post here and am new to greenhouse growing so apologies for the daft question!

I recently acquired a second hand Halls Popular greenhouse (gutters included), and so bought the downpipe kit, which includes 40mm downpipes.

The next step is to give the rainwater somewhere to go!

Could anyone advise how best to link the downpipes to a water butt? All of the diverters I've seen only seem compatible with larger downpipes.

    Many thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

I don't know how your rain barrels/butts accept water but over here, there is usually a hole in the top and gravity carries the ewater to it with whatever you choose as a conveyance.

I pieced together all sorts of bits and pieces. Here are some pics.
Gutter using J strip which creates a trough to capture runoff from both sides.

And the same vacuum attachement catching water between two small greenhouse gutters made from Jstrip. 1628597804919-1963552220.jpg

Screening is to keep mosquitoes out.

I joined a couple of plastic containers to reduce the size and then covered with Gorilla Tape.

I used some old hosepipe to extend the downpipe to where I wanted it, only a foot or so though.

@NigelJ @john558 - thank you for all your replies! Much appreciated and sounds as if a DIY solution might be the best idea.

@pete - do you have any sort of overflow pipe in place?

@CanadianLori that's a seriously impressive setup! I'm in awe of your ingenuity.

I have two butts at various positions.
At the back porch, and on the allotment, I attach the two together with a length of hosepipe and set it up as a siphon, but on one set there is an over flow pipe, on the allotment set I don't bother.
