Continuing with 1st border sort out ...or rather potential sort out, have cut a few plants back that I think I may keep but nothing more drastic yet ....well too be honest cutting back is pretty drastic for me actually!! :yikes:
I have no qualms getting rid of non performers but there are plants I love that really are approaching their best before date ....do I let them enjoy one more season or do I........ , trouble is I say this every year.

Trip to the tip for both household and garden waste. (Good stuff gets composted, bad collected for removal). Full car, but happy, that didn't have to keep a bag on my knees this time :)
Yesterday had a fight with bkackberries and binweed from neighbouring areas. Hate that bindweed, it climbed onto my cherry laurels.

Tidying and filling some edging borders around the patio extension, moving some plants about, bit of potting on, but generally taking it easy :)

It is another 94f day and extremely humid. So, didn't do much. I will make a point of adding a note to my planting diagram, NOT to put the weed near the clothes umbrella dryer. It got bigger than I thought it would and rubs against the arms when I spin the dryer. I have dead headed a few flowers. And placed the shovel where I will be digging tomorrow when the guessers say it will be only about 74f :)

I've cut back lots of hardy perennials that are over now, and some rambling roses and a big perennial sweet pea. My garden waste wheely bin was collected this morning but now it is half full again ! and not being collected for another two weeks.

I think it's the 'weed' we can't grow legally here in Britain @Victoria. :)

Like an idiot, I put off mowing for a few days (alright - a week ) and am now struggling trying to get it cut. I got the main back lawn done but the mower kept clogging and getting all the clippings to the compost heaps was a chore. I then stopped mowing so that it could be washed out underneath (attach a hose to the fitting on the deck and run the engine). I wanted to start mowing in the front but couldn't because I have to wait for the mower to dry out otherwise it will track green slime across the patio.

I'll mow the front today and if I'm still feeling fit enough (can't remember those days very well :old: :heehee:) I'll try mowing down the back. The problem down the back is that all the fallen fruit has to be lifted first and bending has been removed from my word list! The grass where the fruit trees/wild area needs to be cut has grown to above ankle height :rolleyespink:. Good for saving windfalls from damage but hopeless for mowing.

I spent 2.5 hours harvesting and the golden plums are gorgeous. :hapydancsmil: I'm feeling lethargic today so need a kick up the bum to get me moving :noidea:

Might cut some more of the grass, unless the cricket is interesting then it'll be quiet jobs.

I was being slightly tongue in cheek, hence the pray tell.

Cricket is sounding good, mowing can wait. Weeding, trimming edges etc. Might cut down the nettles at the side of the fruit cage.
Removed most of the sweetcorn as the cobs were very thin.

Been working on the jungle area for a few hours, working out the pathways and digging out a load of weeds etc. Thinking about just relaxing for rest of day to be honest! Have a beer or two before the kids and wife return from a couple of days away :)

Combine harvester stops play! We and our neighbours have had to retreat indoors for the rest of the day.

The wind is blowing from the field towards us and the air is completely full of bits of corn. It's also the noisiest combine harvester I've ever heard.

I need to pick another 7lb of beans for people collecting this evening so, hopefully, the harvesting will be far enough away to allow me to breathe. I'll wear a facemask. Funnily enough I just happen to have a facemask. :heehee:
