This is why it is a good idea to live next to people. I can't understand why some prefer to live in the middle of nowhere:

A rescue mission was launched on Saturday afternoon when neighbours concerned about the 83 year old woman's whereabouts called the emergency services.

The woman, who had been missing for over an hour, had fallen near her house. She was hoisted on a stretcher to safety by fire crews and taken to hospital by air ambulance. She is said to be in a stable condition.

I don't understand how a smaller force can overcome a force 5 times its size.

Made 2 jam tarts and biscuits for hubby, then washed my hair.

            Hi,

A quick visit. I've just completed a brazing machine and now I'm starting a new project it being an induction heater; most of the parts are now gathered and the aluminium enclosure is well on its way; I hope I don't dim too many lights.

WOW what lovely jam tarts Logan that look good enough to eat. :dbgrtmb:

            Kind regards, Colin.

You won't find many of these growing in a garden but it's what I like to grow in my workshop.

Work in progress showing the power supply; induction heater bought from China and a relay; not cheap projects but definitely interesting to me and I like leaving my comfort zone to experiment a bit.

Nah, I would say you're just childlike (like me:biggrin:) and I think it's very important to stay that way, frankly. It's a word and a way of being which I associate with all the positive attributes of children such as playfulness, curiosity for its own sake and a sense of wonder. Keeps one young, healthy and maintaining a sense of perspective on life IMO! :)

Went for a brief run for the first time in many months yesterday and I'm so glad I did it! Full of enthusiasm for strenuous exercise again and planning how much weight I can sensibly lose by the end of December this morning. :) I want to get down to 12 1/2 stone for the new year, am currently at just under 16 stone. At least I know exactly what caused my rapid weight gain which was comfort eating because I stopped smoking. Now I just need to go for a run every couple of days and get back to eating sensibly, and I've pretty much sorted the latter out already! :blue thumb:

Congratulations Nick for quitting smoking making a start on the exercise. :yay: I bet you have already noticed there is more money in your wallet ... well, probably not because you have spent it on plants. :heehee:

When I was losing weight I ate little and often, healthy foods, still do in fact. Also I often eat half of what is on my plate and have the other half for another meal. Back in the early days of GC, a bunch of us dieted and did a "weigh and tell" every Monday morning. :love30:

                        :fingers crossed: Vxx

@Nikolaos that's great about you stopping smoking and hope that you lose weight but do it gradually.

@Victoria good job with you losing weight and it's difficult to keep it off.

This morning hubby went back to the consultant about his hernia surgery and was signed off and doing well, so now he can start doing things but gradually.

Thanks @Victoria and @Logan! :) Yes, you're right @Logan, I'm going to take it easy with the weight loss, it's never a good thing to lose too much in too brief a period which is why I'm planning to get down to my target weight in January. Aiming to lose about a stone a month will allow me to very gradually increase the distance I'll be running and work up to a decent sprint without a high risk of injury. :blue thumb:

Nah, definitely wouldn't do anything as silly as that, Vicky...:th scifD36:

A stone a month is slightly ambitious I would say half that, two pounds per week, but do what you feel is comfortable but safe. Mine was over a few years, mainly through injury. but I lost 4.5 stone ... then was anorexic and had to gain weight! Now I am trying to lose a few pounds again!
