Every year i grow a few Onions,..cutting off the base of an Onion and slightly letting it dip in a glass of water,..when new roots appear,..plant it in soil,..each Onion base will produce one to two new Onions.

Two new lots of growth popping up just starting after a few days.

I've never seen onions grown that way before, it's better than buying a bag of sets that you haven't got room for. I may try it next year.

The results are very rapid,..within a week or two the onion above has sprouted good healthy shoots,..two shoots per onion,..they are only just covered in soil,..when the onion starts to show i will remove the soil to expose it to the sun.

The Garden below is not my garden but my neighbour who was 87 and passed away in 2016,..she loved flowers but had nothing in her garden so i gave her any extra plants i had,..admittingly i was not so quick to cut the grass though she didn't complain,..she was not able to garden but i always found her red handled trowel someplace in the garden after she turned the soil,..and i spot that trowel in some of the images below.

                Sheilagh's Garden.

Music 'Peaceful Sunrise',..By Min.D,..7 mins and 33 secs long.

How nice to have the Laurel as a gift from the birds, the leaves look sunny and bright  and good to know you can grow Sempervivums, I don't have much success with them, although other succulents love my garden.
Whisper has a good view from up on high ...

@Michael Hewett ,..there are Laurels growing in some gardens close to here but either full green foliage or spotted,..this volunteer plant has lots of yellow in it,..hope it retains that marking,..ah yes those Sempervivums are almost neglected,.. just need fallen leaves from other plants removed and once in a blue moon a weed :)

The area where all the 'Delphiniums' were growing,..was cleared to the ground and filled with containers,..lots of 'Hebe' small bushes and doing very well is the cutting of Smoke Bush 'Royal Purple',..Cotinus coggygria',..by next season all those container plants should be big enough to be planted around the garden in soil.

@Upsydaisy,..it was easy to create a garden for her seeing i had plenty of surplus plants,..then i enjoyed the fact she could sit and take pleasure admiring the blooms,..she said every morning when she pulled back the curtains,..then seeing the flowers that it boosted her day,..i certainly enjoyed the fact it made her happy,..most gardeners would have done the same for her :)
