Hi, One for the ladies. My wife and I have shopped at M&S from pram to pensioner but after this morning it's likely we'll seldom visit M&S again. My wife wanted a skirt with an elasticated waist; it's never previously been a problem buying these at M&S with a decent selection but now try to buy one or even find one. We've visited M&S in Pudsey and M&S in Meadowhall twice recently the store is overrun with ladies trousers; this morning at Meadowhall we found an odd skirt but even then not in the size wanted. M&S also decided to stock lots of linen clothes a while ago. M&S menswear is fine. What's happened to M&S? Kind regards, Colin.
Hopefully M&S will get back on track because there's less choice on the High Street these days. We've lost Debenhams which also stocked good quality clothing. We buy clothes in Sainsburys or Asda now.
Probably nothing, like other sectors, they will be struggling to get the lines they would normally stock due to shortages in the supply chain of raw materials.
And the countries which make the stuff in India and far east have been hit with covid. Although if you watch the TV news it seems like it's all over.
Hi, Many thanks JR; it's years since I visited Asda but following your lead I've taken my wife to Asda and just returned; my wife has finally bought a skirt she likes and at a third of the price it would have been at M&S; she also bought a top and I bought two T shirts a top and a 32GB memory stick the stick cost £10 and the whole lot including stick only cost £45.50; my wife says to thank you too. Thanks gks; I also thought it could be due to low supplies but Asda are well stocked up with all kinds of clothing as we've just found out; I'm sure as you also say pete Covid has caused lots of supply problems and things are getting back to normal but now we're short of drivers? Tomorrow morning we're visiting this company who have a branch at Fox Valley not far away from us; Women's Skirts - Ladies Skirts - Seasalt Cornwall Seasalt Fox Valley - Beautiful women's clothing & Cornish homeware - Seasalt Cornwall We've been going off M&S for quite a while; they started selling lets of linen clothes which we never buy; are M&S heading the way of other big stores and will eventually close; strange how they have a store full of ladies trousers and only the odd few skirts? It looks like all change at Morrison's too with the impending takeover; is anything these days fully British owned. Kind regards, Colin.
Asda also sell gardening stuff. Jack's Magic is £5/bag and a few weeks ago they reduced all seeds to 15p a packet.
TKMaxx is a good one. As a store it's very annoying, full of brand hunting teenagers and without any order, but it is the place to visit if one wants seriously good quality clothes for a fraction of the usual cost. TKMaxx specialises in end-of-lines, past year models etc so it's just a piece of luck if they happen to have anything you want. It's my go-to place for knitwear that I'm too stingy to buy full price. Knitwear shows quality over the years. They also sell the occasional gardening stuff and their kitchen section is great.
Hi, Thanks Scrungee; yes Asda sell lots of things our local Asda used to have a photography section where I once had 150 pictures printed at very little cost; I didn't notice it though so it must have been dropped; we had a look at the electrical section which was interesting. Thanks Selleri for TKMaxx; I've never visited this store and wasn't it this store a few years back which had all it's custmers details hacked? We've just returned from Fox Valley; it's just another retail park and the store Sea Salt we were particulary interested in is very small; as with M&S lots of ladies trousers; just two skirts my wife was interested in at around £50 each but not elasticated waist and not in her size; she's what is considered in the normal size range the store is simply too small to display much stock and we didn't stay to ask; a cheap visit all we bought were two bags of cat biscuits at the big Home Bargains but it was a run out and all the way there it drizzled. So out of the stores thus visited Asda really do shine out and nearest. Kind regards, Colin.
