Solved Tamarillo (Tomato Tree) & Salvia farinacea Problems

What is going on here please?







These past couple of days have been strange as my Salvia farinacea has developed Powdery Mold too so cut it right back and sprayed with water with dish liquid.

 

Looks like insect damage in the pictures rather than mildew.

 

Thank you for responding Pete. I didn't think the Tamarillos had the mildew, it was the Salvia. I was just saying two things in a couple of days. I didn't know what this is. Do you think it is worth keeping (two plants) or start again?

 

Oh definitely worth keeping.
Couldn't say what the problem is with the tomatillo, might be worth a close look under the leaves.
Mildew is often a late summer problem, some say you can stop it with careful watering, but I have it on some plants as well.
Try spraying with diluted milk.

 

I didn't see anything under the leaves yesterday but sprayed with the water/washing liquid stuff so will look again in a while.

 

Difficult to tell from the pictures, and I really dont have any knowledge of what pests are available in Portugal, but I was thinking along the lines of Thrips.

Two survived but then looked unwell so they went in the ICU ... will have a look later.

 

One was dead, the other will a few dead leaves on it so have put it in "the Nursery" which is over the French drain in front of where we sit so I can keep an eagle eye on things.

 

It should be massive by now at least 6ft. Tall. Growth rate is similar to tomatoes or Brugs.

 

Sadly it is less a foot but a sturdy stem ... hence why I did not photograph it! My Pink Brugmansia is on a "grow slow" as well.
