You would like to think so. It's not uncommon for price fixing where the competition actually create a cartel. Supermarkets in the UK where supposed to help farmers after the foot and mouth outbreak, or that's what they lead the public to believe. I think fines exceeded 100 million after being found guilty for price fixing, I think some dairy farmers were even involved, doubt it affected any of them in footfall or turnover though. Even across the pond, the Scott's miracle gro group were fined for illegally applying pesticides to wild bird products that would of been poisonous to them. Some of the pesticides they were selling they had apparently falsified registration documents and put unapproved labels on unregistered pesticides.

Looks like the media have run out of exciting things to turn into a crisis, so I'm now watching empty shelves in supermarkets being shown.
Apparently according to ITV its because of a lack of lorry drivers due to Brexit, most of our drivers were from the EU apparently.

So why has it not been a problem for the lasts 7 months?

Get ready for the panic buying.

Oh we also have a shortage of vets.
Down to Brexit as well I'm guessing.

No, it was the nickname of my cat Magic Sam because he was afraid of his own shadow, who died here aged 20.

There are fewer lorry drivers due to Brexit but also due to other things. Older professional lorry drivers retiring (a lot of them getting fed up because of HMRC bringing in IR35 in April), many people applying for HGV licences not being able to get a test due to Covid restrictions (massive backlog of tests) and other smaller restrictions. Some companies are now looking at having smaller delivery vehicles where the drivers won't need the same licences.

Anti price fixing laws came in many decades ago but there are always new ways to be found to get round them.

I used to run a local trade organisation (many years ago) and at one of the meetings they were discussing, informally, that it would be a good idea not to continually trying to compete on prices but to agree a reasonable compromise between them. I pointed out that it was illegal to do it in that way but there was no law against not having an agreement but to try and match their nearest competitors.

Which is now quite a visible and accepted thing with the supermarkets. e.g. Tesco/Sainsbury's price matching Aldi. This has resulted in a better deal for the consumer - at the moment. I can see the prices creeping up (of course, not by agreement  :th scifD36:) to a level that is acceptable to all three.

He must have had a good life to live to that age. I'm not getting another pet - the heartache is too much when they are finally called up stairs.

Had to drive to Swansea ... it was MAD ! too many roads, too many new lanes, too many new roundabouts, too many lorries, too much traffic all together, and too many idiots driving the traffic. GLAD TO COME HOME ! I don't think I belong in this world, I'm not built for the rat race. I'm logging off now, technology and gadgets are getting me down too. They're too fiddly and time consuming and I've run out of patience with it all.
                      See you again soon

He loved it here. We went back to the IoW for a few months in the summer for three years and he hated it and stayed mostly under the bed when the doors were open. We would come back and get 5-6 kms from home and he would wake up, get up behind our heads (we had a converted BT van) as he could smell the orange groves and start purring. He would jump out of the van and start running around the garden excitedly. Two white ones came with us too, Skwij and Puschka (brother and sister). They were nine, Boo five. Skwij died here aged 13, Puschka aged 15. Now Chere Khan is 12 and Van Dyson about 9-10. To us, a home is not a home without cats. We have had cats for 53 years constantly. :cat-kittyandsmiley: :cat-kittyandsmiley:
