Oh Silver Surfer, you could well be right! Friend’s plant has leaves like your last photo but not the other ones as they are quite pointy....sure there will be a correct botanical term which is not pointy:). The leaf stems on hers are much darker and the main stem isvery streaky and sort of spotty hence why I thought it could be related to Eucomis.
I obviously did not see the plant flower, all I was told was it was white and Lily like. My friend is not an experienced gardener so the flower might well have been tinged pink maybe?
However, it does look like Arisaema is correct but perhaps the variety is not. Good to know tho that it will happily survive up here.I’m rather tempted to source a couple myself if there are any available, Covid and Brexit appear to have vastly reduced plant availability and as for prices of same:yikes:.

Oh our posts crossed. Hmm, when did you visit Edron? I visited there about 5 years ago as was visiting a friend in The Borders. I think the original owners sold the business prior to me visiting.
I went to buy Rosceas which are fine but saw other plants which took my fancy....as they do!
I was a bit dubious about a few and specifically asked the woman owner? if the plants I was thinking of purchasing would fair ok without protection. The plants for sale were outside yes but were covered by a roof. I was assured they would be fine...WRONG. I bought 3 pots( have very large garden so 1 of anything is a waste of time) of various plants and all of them died the 1st winter here and no I do not live on top of Ben Nevis, I am not on clay, drainage is pretty good and I am not a beginner gardener. Over £100 down the drain and I should have trusted myself rather than someone wanting to make a sale!
Did you buy from them recently?

I love them all. But then I find leaves interesting.
my neighbour things my garden boring cos it is not full of colourful annuals.
Just as well we are all different.

The dry bulbs are fascinating..very different in shape and size.

Snap re foliage, that is my thing too. Flowers are lovely but often fleeting while foliage you can enjoy for months. I love autumn colours hence why I grow lots of Azaleas, get flowers perfume and fantastic autumn tones in a oner. Also grow lots of different Sorbus and Fothergilla which give a great show. It should extra good this autumn having been so warm.
Thank you Silver Surfer for your lovely photos. Do Arisaema appreciate well rotted horse manure and or leaf mould? I have both.

That is where my dry bulbs in my pic came from!

We met the owner Satty Pradhan there ..he pays the local farmers to grow them so they are not collected from the wild.
He exports many many giant containers by sea to Holland where they put a few in a plastic bag and send them to garden centres where silly prices are asked.

Long story....it ended up the following year with an incredible 3 week holiday with his brother in law Alister in Sikkim, West Bengal..Darjeeling ..the foothills of the Himalayas!
We chose the detailed itinerary and he booked a taxi for the 3 of us with driver...
hotels all booked ahead, all meals, entry fees, visas included etc etc.
For an agreed cost per person per day.
We rode on a yak in the snow, rode on an elephant, visited temples, tea plantations, saw amazing scenery, met local people..mind blowingly amazing.
All booked on trust after one chance meeting with Satty pradhan
We flew to Bagdogra airfield and hoped someone would be there... Alistair was!
Just so kind..I cannot sing his praise enough.
                  Just a wonderful experience.
We wanted to go back but health issues stopped us.

He arranges Botanical tour and has perfect English.
                  Do go.

Oh wow. I had sent an email asking a few questions so hoping for a reply before you posted the above. I would be very happy to visit and pick up the dry bulbs if possible AND I have toyed with the idea of visiting India as my father was born and lived there for about 12 years. My father was born in a place called Guwahati....well that was where his birth certificate was issued no 17! I had a look on Google and where you were was not a million miles away from there. Hmm got me thinking, before I am completely passed it this chance piece of information might be just what I need to get me enthused again. I did an amazing trip to Egypt all organised through local people, none of your UK tour operator stuff and it was so incredible, we saw lots of things not usually available to tourists so have good experience of this type of trip. Anyway will stop nattering as this has nothing to do with Arisaema. I will pm you if you don’t mind once I have got a bit further with the logistics of being away from here for a while.

Satty is not open for visitors...mail order I believe.
We just happened to go on spec and caught him quite by accident.
Our trip was just so very cheap compared to Travel Co's in UK.
Alister spoke local dialect so could talk to everyone we met.
I have nearly 2,000 holiday pics from the 3 weeks.
Plus 1359 pics of the plants we encountered.
                    We were there April 2011.
E mail Alister direct and discuss your ideas.
I will post a few pics...not plants or scenery...too many of those.
