    I haven't got any links regarding alpine growing but a mate is a keen exhibitor.

    He showed me round his greenhouse one day in winter I think.
    He had two fans blowing full blast down the length of this greenhouse, it was like a wind tunnel.
    He had all side vents open as well.

      We have dual boilers in our glasshouses to circulate warm air during colder periods, and cool air in the warmer periods. We have found air circulation is one of a number of things to help prevent disease, regardless of what crop your growing. I don't think any commercial grower would grow in glasshouses or polytunnels without good air circulation.

      In our polytunnels, we built beds to layout the plants to the general public, the beds were made with sharp sand and coarse grit along with a porous water pipe, then covered with a weed control membrane. When you move a plant you can actually see the moist patch where the pot was sitting. We still have to water though, it does not supply sufficient enough water to the plants. The polytunnels are also lined with netting down the sides and ends to help with ventilation.

        Our Tomatoes are still doing well, today we picked our biggest beef tomato we have ever grown, and a much sweeter taste than the normal tomato we usually have, and probably not big to all you seasoned growers :) but its big to me and mother:hapydancsmil: :biggrin:

          Thay do look good @Jordhandeson, you are lucky to have avoided blight. Are you growing outside or in a greenhouse?

          Further update:

          The fruits look almost identical to those on F1 Suncherry plants, but are inferior in flavour.

          The numbers of flowers have increased to silly numbers, this truss has at least 80 flowers on it, but probably none of them will have time to ripen.

            I've noticed this year that all my Toms of various varieties are a lot smaller and with many more flowers that won't ripen.

              Hi thanks JWK, the little oranges tomatoes are outside as we grew to many to keep inside, lol but the beef ones are in the green house. The one inside are producing more fruit and larger than the one outside. Touch wood as yet no blight

                I've been out today cutting off every last flower I could find. I'd already cut off the growing tips but I'd left the existing trusses.

                I found a couple of grey looking tumbling tom tomatoes so I cut them off along with any old foliage. No sign of blight on any stems though, but I'll be checking each day.

                  Blight is gradually destroying my plants, I still am picking enough ripe ones but around 10% are affected and been thrown away. I have stripped off most of the leaves on half the plants. Only the blight resistant Honeymoon is looking strong and healthy

                      Removed a load of lower leaves this morning. Toms are now ripening on 4th trusses. Haven't topped my cherry toms yet, only my beefsteaks and Shirlies.

                      Today's pick from that tunnel border (excluding 4 Gardeners Delights as I ran out of containers). 2+lbs Sungolds and 10+lbs Suncherries and Orange Paruche.

                      Only got about a dozen outdoor Red Alerts, but picking this much about 3 times a week.
