Hi folks. I bought (on Impulse) 10 potted Portuguese laurels measuring around 15 cm. I then discovered 2ft Portuguese laurels at my local tree nursery for a great price so purchased them and planted them out alone a border instead of the smaller plants purchased previously.

I'm assuming that they will soon start to outgrow their current pots and I'll have to transfer them into bigger posts. I've nowhere to plant them out right now and was hoping to grow them all as container plants with the view of planting them out into the garden next year or when they get to a decent height.

Would anyone have any advice on this please? Thank you folks

Heal them in somewhere or pot on, either will be fine :)

Thanks very much. I've got lots of compost. Some home made and some shop bought. I can use the pots the larger laurels came in

I would pot on or heel in just in case they have outgrown their existing pots. Can you see roots coming out the bottom, alternatively you can knock one out to get an idea of the root ball size. Also depends on the size of the bigger pots. Over winter they might need protection if left in pots.

Thanks for that. I'll take one out of the pot on in the morning and get a proper look. Thanks for the tip ref w it winter. We are in Ireland so harsh winters are commonplace. We do have a large glass greenhouse so could keep them in there during harsh weather
