As the common cold is a Corona virus I suppose that is quite understandable, we have never have achieved herd immunity from the common cold.
We do though tend to have some resistance to it once we catch it, due to exposure.

It looks like it's going to be booster jabs for the more vulnerable only - natural infection apparently bashes all 24 Covid-19 proteins - so is more potent than the single protein bashing vaccine.

As suspected, Boris is letting her rip.

Prof Riley said there was potential in using vaccines to "take the edge off" Covid, followed by infection, to broaden the immune response.

She said: "We really need to consider, are we just frightening people rather than giving them the confidence to get on with their lives? We're close to just worrying people now."

Well, no new deaths here in North Wales - but infections (aka number of people who are developing natural immunity) rising. So good news.

Recent quote from a medical professional - "infections don't matter a jot - it's the number of hospitalisations and deaths that should be driving our actions."

Can't fault the NHS when it comes to the roll out of vaccinations. Wow...

Since the programme began in December 2020, a Covid jab has been given every 24 seconds by vaccinators in the Betsi Cadwaladr health board region.

From the beeb. I wish that they would start with - the vaccines are still highly effective against hospitalisation and severe illness. In their scaremongering article they are talking about protection from infection. I don't care if I get infected - I care if I get severely ill.

Protection after two shots of Pfizer decreased from 88% at one month to 74% at five to six months.

For AstraZeneca, the fall was from 77% to 67% at four to five months.

Waning protection is to be expected, say experts.

Has the BBC not heard of booster jabs.
I've booked for my booster flu jab yesterday.
Are they going to report about the waning protection of the flu jab each year.
Or is that not worth a mention.

I've only ever had a flu shot once. About 25 years ago. I guess it lasted as I haven't had the flu since. No booster needed? :rolleyespink:

The covid jab booster is only being offered to the "vulnerable" over here. I don't like that word vulnerable. Think I'd prefer it was susceptible or another less insulting term!

That's the thing about flu - it mutates every year - which is why we have annual jabs here in the UK - to take account of the latest variant.

Crystal ball time - we will also have annual Covid-19 jabs - perhaps flu and Covid-19 in a single jab - to keep up with variants - who knows.

Another example of why Mark was re elected:

Wales is giving PPE to Namibia to help the global fight against COVID-19.

Over £7m worth of masks, gowns and hand sanitiser, which is not needed in Wales, are being donated and a further £500,000 grant is being given for oxygen equipment and nurse training.

Namibia is currently experiencing its third wave of the pandemic and this third surge has exposed the critically insufficient health infrastructure in Namibia.

They could send all those mythical ventilators that the likes of Dyson and McLaren made for the nightingale hospitals.

Come to that we could send them the whole hospitals.

It looks like medical opinion has shifted recently - the view now is that everyone will at some point be infected by the virus - it can't be stopped by the vaccine. Not good news for those countries with low vaccination levels and the anti-vaccers. Anti-vaccers will eventually, it seems, regret their decision.

Just heard this news 10 minutes ago. It cannot be controlled or stopped. We are all likely to get it. Start thinking and accepting that : come to terms with it. Keep yourself as healthy as possible. Get vaccinated, take Vitamin D and Zinc.
Then go back out there and ENJOY LIFE,

I just cannot see why they haven't said this months ago.
It was pretty obvious over a year ago that it wasn't going to be stopped.
