And like the Covid vaccine @Logan it doesn't make any difference. All my children had the measles vaccine when they were young and my son had measles three times after that.

Face masks are still mandatory here in Scotland. I will continue to wear mine when they're not and until the time (if it happens) that I feel safe without it.

Something that I've said all along is that the so called blue, medical type masks that the public wear are useless. They don't completely cover the area required, gaping at the edges and above the nose, which will let in infection. Scientists and some doctors are now agreeing with this.

How can this increase natural immunity if Covid can been caught more than once?

Sorry Logan I don't agree with this either. If it protects the other person who isn't wearing it, then it makes sense to me that it must protect the person wearing it too. Visors are rigid and open all the way round, I don't believe this gives any protection at all. Think of wearing one on a windy day and how much protection it would give you from the virus being blown into your face.

Masks are protection against flu too, the drop in numbers last year has to be proof of that.

Personally I believe masks provide very little protection, the only thing that works is staying at home and not mixing with others. We can't do that forever though.

              Hi all,

Sorry if its been mentioned recently, but wondered what the current recommendation is for dealing with food shopping etc. do we still need to sanitise it when bringing into the house as they originally suggested.
Not seen any recent comment about being able to contract Covid from handling such items others will have touched.

I haven't sanitised any shopping since the start of Covid and it's not been a problem.

I'm getting the feeling everyone is starting to become sanitization crazy and mask crazy.
Nobody was really that bothered about flu, but now its being considered a defence against flu and other viruses.

Which kind of suggests it's changed people permanently.

I've never sanitized any shopping or anything I've touched while shopping.
My personal thoughts are, like lots of it all, it has been overstated that you can catch it via the mail or a supermarket trolley.

I agree with John, you catch this kind of thing via very close contact.
Most people who seem to have gone down with it around here have had lots of visitors during this period and often have been looking after grandchildren, that well know, germ spreading, section of the community.

All government sources, non-government sources and scientists say it is not necessary to sanitise shopping as previously thought. Apparently the likelihood of any transmission is almost zero.

Yes I know that it makes sense but it doesn't, because there's the gap around the mask is a problem, the other person has to wear a mask as well. My hubby has a visor when he has to work at the local schools in exam time.

When we had to wear a mask in the supermarket there was a customer coughing and she had a mask but not wearing it, but when she coughed she put the mask to her face but didn't put it on, so we stayed away from her.

I will continue to sanitise anything that comes into the house, I will wear a mask in shops and keep washing my hands.

I will continue the above until I feel safe not to do so. Each to his/her own of course.

I think it's down to the quality of the mask, all ours are good ones and have no gaps and can be shaped to fit the facial contours. I've seen loads of very ill-fitting ones and ones worn incorrectly. Good ones offer a significant protection to all.

Still wear our cotton gloves when supermarket shopping...never touch the trolley.

Yes that's good but what do you do with the gloves afterwards? When we go into the supermarket or anywhere else always clean the trolley then gel on hands. We get into the car and before we take the mask off put gel on hands.i agree the mask must fit properly like ours, we have a metal strip over the nose edge that keeps it tight over the nose.

We have a pack of 24 white cotton gloves , they get removed after shopping and before touching the car in the supermarket car park and stored in a plastic bag. They get a boil wash in an old saucepan ( only used for this) .If we have to visit more shops then a fresh pair are worn. We also carry and use our own individual hand sanitizer too. All our masks have the flexible metal strip over the nose area and a finer wire running around the remaining edge area so it can be pressed and moulded to the shape of our faces. They are reusable ,but we have a stock of them . One of our sons saw them and bought them for us , himself and his girlfriend. I have seen so many masks that may fit snugly over the nose area but are loose and gappy at the sides, especially the paper ones.!!
