Hi, when we moved in (20 years ago) we inherited this yellow rose. It never flowers much, never grows much (is fed - barely pruned
Really not sure what I should do with it, any ideas apparently (it might not even be a standard rose)
    Thank you

From the photographs I don't think it is a standard rose. A standard rose would have one stem from the base to about 3ft then multiple shoots with roses on; a bit like a lollipop.
Your photos show a bush rose that has become tall and leggy. I would cut it back to about 18-24 in this winter and it should shoot from low down.

      Hi, Nigel
      Thank you for your reply.
It has one stem until 24 inches then two stems only for the next 15 inches.
If I cut it back to 24 inches as you suggest, it would just leave one stem, is this what you would suggest? Thank you

      Hi,

You could try and save it, but at 20+ years old is it worth it ?

Think we would replace it with a better rose, if you renewed the surrounding soil to avoid any diseases, or just plant something totaly different ?
