We don't have a Security Guard in my Tesco Express as we are all very honest upstanding people in Ramsgate

I dont get why there is all this trouble over increases in NI contributions, I think more tax rises are probably on the way.
Anyone who thinks we can do what has been going on the last 18 months and not pay for it in the end must be living in cloud cookoo land.

...and that's just for the NHS to allow them to catch-up with the backlog.

No one dares mention furlough - business rates relief etc.

Let's just say it's not going to be a cavalcade of fun when the time to square up arrives.

At least a Star Trek movie has just started on Film4...

Home Bargains is full of Christmas decorations, 5 isles full of Santas and tinsell and baubles :heehee: and we haven't even turned the clocks back yet :heehee: ... I'm sure I'll be totally fed up with it by the time it arrives !
It's bad enough putting up with it in December without having it rammed down your throat as soon as you enter the shop at this time of year.

It's one thing preparing for it but to see the shop looking like Christmas eve in September is too overwhelming for me.
I'm not a Christmassy person as you have probably noticed - I find it too artificial and meaningless
          Moan over lol

Yes that's right, not all this artificial slush and nonsense.

Another pointless waste of time and money.
Thankfully here on the edge of a village we don't hear many (I hope those are not famous last words :heehee: )

To pets and many humans I would say, they are more like explosions than anything else, like bombs going off.

I can do without seeing evolution in action ... and it's really more than a few nights in many places like big towns etc.

Some countries have laws how to transliterate names, for a while Russia ordered that Russian names must be transliterated to Latin alphabet according to French phonetics. So Yuri (as in Yuri Gagarin) became something like Youre (with accent) and so on.

Russians have always done transliterations from Latin to Cyrillic phonetically, sometimes with refreshing results. Guess who is the famous author "Mom"? No, nothing to do with Moomins, it's Maugham of course!

I have always had the pleasure of having to spell my name everywhere I go, thanks to my romantic mother and my rather unwise decision to marry a foreigner. So now I'm blessed with a double whammy of first and last names that are unspellable and unpronounceable in any country and culture on the planet. When I call anywhere and have to give my name getting the "sorry could you please spell that for me" I say upfront that this might take a while.

Where I worked, back in one January, a very kind customer brought in a packet of mince pies for us all.
They were obviously given to her over Christmas and she didn't like them, neither did we, they were gluten free ones and tasted awful.
And then of course we had the problem of explaining to our South African mate why a Mince pie contains mincemeat, but not minced meat.:loll:

Know the problem! I gave a 'typically English' goodie bag to our new neighbours and the mayor and his secretary when we bought our cow barn  The tea was OK....they drink it when they're ill. The biscuits were great. But the Christmas puddings were a huge mistake :roflol: Can't say I blame them...unless they're drowned in brandy, cream, custard and brandy butter, they are totally inedible  The puddings were last seen being used to play petanque...

You're on! I want to bury a 3000l rainwater recuperation tank near the garage. Are you up for it? Absolutely no mince pies or Christmas puddings served at any time :roflol: How do you feel about oysters?
