Tomatoes don't like being grown in the same soil, bugs and diseases build up and cause the plant to be sickly. I used to change the soil each year, then used grafted plants that were resistant to the bugs. The last 3 or 4 years, after a tip on this forum, I use Rootgrow, which is mychorizal fungi. It makes the roots grow fast, strong and healthy.

The other thing I do is grow something else in the same spot the following year, like peppers or cucumbers. Like a kind of rotation inside the greenhouse.

Might still be good to use the RootGrow on all your plants, not just Tomatoes. It makes for a much stronger plants.

I just got free seeds for Costoluto Genovese from a supplier in Italy. Has anyone tried them?

I've reached peak polytunnel tomato picking. Cherry toms are up in the apex with growing points removed, lots of leaves removed and being kept on the dry side.

              IMG_20210916_145238815_HDR.jpg

Picked a few of the softest cherry toms for roasting, turning into sauce and pasteurizing. I'll pick another load for eating tomorrow, there wasn't enough room in my wheel barrow for everything.

Got decent size trusses, many larger than this.

My beefsteaks are refusing to ripen.

I had a go at growing a Gardeners Delight in a hanging basket.
Just got back from holiday and it’s looking ok.
There was plenty of nipping out vigorous shoots.
I wouldn’t recommend it ,there are more suitable toms.for hanging baskets.
                  Just an experiment.

So weve got to the point of tomato fatigue.

                    Just cant eat anymore :mute:

Sorted for winter chutney now, frozen some oven roasted terenzos too.

Tomorrow its the big one. Kilo s of san marzanos going into the pot for sauce.

Still have some more ripening in the greenhouse along with the sungolds.

                    A good season :blue thumb:

Is that just one plant in one basket?

Over 80 lbs of tomatoes now bottled whole or turned into pasta sauce. Chutney next.

We're eating a couple of dozen a day and Dog expects half a dozen.

                      First beefsteak picked yesterday.

That seems late, in a normal season would you expect them in August?
