Well, I am just off the phone with a friend/colleague regarding her mum, and I am between disgusted and furious.

We last spoke Tuesday or Wednesday of last week as she was concerned about the state of her mum's leg; her mum has cellulitis, however looking at a photo she sent me it had gone quite a way beyond that and there was a fair bit of necrotic tissue. She had been in hospital a few weeks ago and was released with the district nurses supposed to be coming in to dress the leg; only, there was a waiting list for district nurses, so that little link in the chain didn't work.

My advice was to get professional help as soon as possible as I did not like what I was looking at to be honest. They saw a GP the following day who dressed her leg properly and gave some different dressings. A district nurse was to come in this week (today apparently) - - there were a couple of confused phone calls between my friends daughter and her gran very early on this morning, and when she got round to her grans house a little later on, she found her breathing poorly with blue lips. She has now been taken by ambulance back to hospital where she remains, and is hopefully improving.

Now, remind me why ambulances and hospitals are over-stretched? As far as I am concerned they have been damn near negligent here, and the risk now is that this lady will have sepsis/septicaemia and all because they couldn't arrange suitable treatment to keep her leg in clean dressings.

From July 2020 through this past May I have been at the hospital numerous times. Probably 200+ times and other than the ER, the hospital was like a morgue. No dead people, just deadly quiet and the nurses were invisible. And I was never there at the same time so it wasn't a shift change or whatever that kept them out of sight whilst I was there.

Before my granddaughter was released they sent in two student nurses, no supervisor, to change her dressings. They did such a horrible job, I changed it immediately after we got home.

Yes those dealing with covid or in the emergency worked hard. Not so much, the others. More of a holiday for them!

          Furlough ends this Friday.

Heard a bloke on Radio 4 this morning - he is a turkey breeder trying to stir up panic buying for the Christmas period. No EU staff to sort the turkeys out.

I thought - well, 2.6 million people are looking for a job - what about them? Looks like we already have the solution - don't we?

          Existential crisis over....:grphg:

This is how the beeb should report covid stats:

People who were fully vaccinated against Covid-19 accounted for only 1% of all deaths involving coronavirus that occurred in England in the first seven months of this year, new analysis shows.

Most were infected before they had received both jabs or had tested positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of their second dose.

This past weekend, I have five family members down with covid syptoms (one lives 200 miles away) All have tested NEGATIVE
Eventually one of my daughters manages after 40 minutes dialling the surgery, gets through and was advised she would get a phone consultation (she can hardly breathe)
Five hours later the Practice nurse phones and said it is just a cold going around, take paracetamol, you do not need anti-biotics but will prescribe Steroids
The practice nurse must have one hell of a long Stethascope

Got an invite for my Covid booster jab today, appointments available from tomorrow and it's not 6 months since my second jab until Monday.

Good job I took a screenshot of the onscreen confirnation/reference nr because they didn't send any confirmation, just a text message in the afernoon inviting me to make yet another appointment.

I'm looking at hotels for a mini break in York. Either I have never noticed this before, or it is a new Covid legacy. :heehee: What a selling point!

You are so refined Victoria - the nearest I'd get to a bidet would be a fire hose in the stairwell.

Not really, when we re-modelled in 2007 we got rid of the bidet ... a waste of space and we only kept toilet rolls in it. :heehee:
