Just spent 45min in a queue for fuel.
First 2 places I tried were sold out.

It was manic around here yesterday at the petrol stations, some were closed completely. Our big Asda Hypermarket is situated off a big busy roundabout.....the queues were terrific!! Asda staff were actually trying to take control of things out on the roundabout too!!! :yikes:

      Pure madness.:dunno:

Just as I was getting to the pumps they were putting covers over some of the diesel pumps.
I guess it's probably closed now.

          That was morrisons.

Got fuel yesterday on the A3, it only took 10 minutes queuing to get to the pump. Then another 10 minutes leaving as a very important driver squeezed past, reversed up to block us all in. I'm not surprised fights are breaking out.

On the way home later both sides services still had fuel and practically no queue.

I've got a HGV licence for artics. As jiffy knows If i decide to drive a tanker holding petrol I'll need to do a dangerous goods ADR course that's in ten parts. (I've done 9, but fuel tankers need part 10)
So first I'll apply..They'd book me in within the month.
Then DVLA would issue my updated driver entitlement.. And there's the snag because that wouldn't get processed until next year i suspect.
Then I'd apply for a tanker job assuming there's a vacancy.. that would no doubt require 3 months training (you haul a potential bomb all day)
On that estimation i could be helping supply the fuel stations by around easter 2022.
Or they can fast track a few turks i guess...

Where are all of these people going that they all need a full tank of gas right this minute? :yikes:

I could see an increase in the need if it were still warm summer weather and traipsing to beaches an holiday destinations but it is now October. :noidea:

On our very first, ever, Day of Reconciliation to acknowledge First Nations mistreatment some generations back, our prime minister went surfing in B.C. Talk about shameful :mute:

My lad took our 8 wheeler to Carlisle on Wednesday for it's 6 weekly inspection. On route he called in to the garage we use to fill up with derv, no derv left. He asked the owner as we have been using them for years and are on first name terms the reason for no fuel, demand is out stripping supply. They said they have been getting deliveries from the refinery depot as usual, but peoples buying patterns has meant that they are selling more fuel per day than they would normally.

Of all the forecourts in the UK, it's reported that fuel stocks don't generally exceed 40% as they adopt a JIT delivery, when peoples buying habits change which results in panic buying then the stocks at the forecourts soon diminish, the sooner people go back to buying as normal the sooner the issue will be resolved.

My 2 wagons are basically sitting in the yard now, the G/C are not stock pilling like they did last autumn, if there was to be another lockdown next spring, there will be a shortage of compost as the retailers have gone back to JIT ordering. My 2 wagons are curtain siders, so I could be of no help in fuel or anything else, my operators license only allows me to carry goods that are associated with my business, I am not allowed to carry goods for 3rd parties, my license would be revoked if I did.

The longest queue I've seen around 'ere was 5 cars.

Done nothing today - just bummed around - I like it.

What I want to know is why are all these people not at work.
When I retired I visualized I would be taking things easy, going where I wanted, fairly quiet roads etc.

It's been nothing but hassle the last 18 months, first you couldn't go anywhere, then the roads were crowded because everyone was on furlough, now you can't get fuel.

                            Everywhere is just chaos.
I was actually better off at work, atleast I was out of it all day.

Martin Lewis was on TV last night, I think it was the, One show. He was warning people about the perils of storing and carrying excessive fuel, especially petrol. Not only can you be fined for transporting petrol over a certain limit, but also your insurance will likely be void if your in an accident. Your insurance could also be void if you store more than 30 litres of petrol at home, which must be stored in separate containers, anymore and you need a license. It is clear that people are buying petrol and storing it, otherwise he wouldn't of warned the general public.

I couldn't believe my eyes seeing people attempting to fill up plastic bags with petrol.
Don't they know how dangerous the stuff is?
Just hope none of the prunes light up a cigarette on the way home because the fumes alone will mean KABOOM :yikes:
