It's probably all those who were furloughed, running around in their motor burning fuel as they have nothing better to do.

That's like us Jiffy, yesterday we had our Flu jabs so did our grocery shopping afterwards too. We don't have set days for anything...just wait until things accumulate then do them all in one go.:)

Under normal circumstances I usually fill up when I get down to a quarter of a tank, I dont like to run around on a low tank.
I was slightly over that this morning, but then I didn't want to get to the point where I didn't have enough to run around to find a place with fuel or to sit in the queue.
They was letting you have as much as you wanted, but no cans and no plastic bags;)

I dont use much these days so this was the first I had bought in over two weeks.

But for anyone who is on the road all day it must be a nightmare.

Petrol stations are still open and running normally here. Shush! Don't tell the panic buyers. Mind you, they'd need a tank of petrol to get here to fill up.

Just been watching the morning news. A tanker driver was telling the BBC that he had been followed by at least 20 motorists, they even stopped him to ask which fuel station he was going to. The driver replied, he was not going to a fuel station as he already had enough fuel for the day. They asked again which fuel station he was delivering his load of fuel to, the driver replied, he was not going to a fuel station as the load he was transporting was, mortar. The driver should of kept quiet and offered to fill all their tanks, that would of stopped them in their tracks.

Petrol stations who ration fuel with a maximum can make things worse as drivers who need more will immediately join the queue at another filling station, doubling the amount of vehicles queueing.

It could be better to introduce a minimum charge that would discourage those who keep joining queues when they've plenty of fuel in their tanks?

If you cant fill a can, do they expect you to siphon fuel out your car into your mower, rotorvator, strimmer, etc, and what about gardeners with diesel vehicles?

I suggested a minimum charge for fuel last week some time.
I did hear in some parts of the country they were doing just that and the queues have disappeared.

I think professional gardeners are probably having a hard time getting petrol around here.

Maybe they would let you fill a can if you explained the situation.
But too many people filling cans so it needs to be stopped.

I want to mow the lawn today but only have a tiny bit of petrol left. I usually wait till I empty my can before filling up, maybe once every other year. The can is empty, I might have a bit of 2 stroke wonder if that will work in the 4 stroke mower? Might be very smoky.
