    Yes @Victoria they are outrageous.

    Per kilowatt hour:
Off peak (like weekends and between 7p.m. and 7 a.m. weekdays- 8.5 cents
    Mid peak- winter 11a.m. to 5 p.m - summer 7a.m. to 1 - 11.9 cents
On Peak hours - all of the other slots including breakfast and supper cooking times. 17.6 cents

There are no off peak times during the week during the day.

Can you imagine being a young family needing to cook breakfast and supper for little ones. Particularly in the cold winter?

Time of use rates totally suck and we had no choice about getting the smart meter. :(

Morning Lori. Even your high rates are attractive to us. Apparently Portugal has the highest rates in Europe. We are all electric, barring gas for hot water and 3 gas hob burners which costs about 25 Euros every two months. We pay direct debit 90 Euros per month and run 2 full size fridge/freezers and one under counter unit plus an ice machine running non stop. We never turn off//unplug electrical items.

On the other hand, we only pay 18 Euros average per month for water (12-24 Winter-Summer) and property taxes are only 50 Euros per year as we are a Casa Antiga (old house) which are protected.

Overall it is far cheaper living here.

My dad was 6 1/2 stone and 6’ tall he couldn’t put weight on, just try and shop for full fat products everything points to fat free and reduced. Eventually at 84 he succumbed to his failing health and passed away, I am 6’ but 101Kg and vowed I would not get to slim, as when I’m ill I want some reserves to fall back on.

Weird that this topic comes up. I just checked my BMI this morning. Last winter I had half heartedly set out to lose a bit of weight. And now have got myself to the mid "good" range. 22.5 And that in spite of the christmas cake, chocolate fudge, cherry tarts, ice cream. I know I better slow down with my stevedore style eating before outdoor gardening comes to a halt or I'll need some really big trousers...

I went on a sales call this morning and it took 4 times as long as it should have. The owner and I kept getting into conversations about cooking and baking and canning and it was tough trying to measure and and get back onto what I was originally there to do!:doh:But is was a good time!

As I have not been able to actively exercise, I need to lose five pounds to get back to normal, ten would be ideal.

Met a friend for lunch today at a churrasqueira, grill place. Busy outside with Portuguese and French, and us. Lovely food, lovely company, nice to be out and about.

Been out today looking for a uPVC door as I am going to take out my garage door and brick it up. As it was a nice day, I had a little walk round Harrington and Maryport harbours with the Mrs. We have four harbours in close proximity, Whitehaven, Harrington, Workington and Maryport. Harrington is my favourite, it's small, so never to many people at onetime.

On a nice clear day we can see the northern tip of the Isle of Man and southern Scotland.
Below are images of Harrington harbour looking on to the Irish sea.

Below are images of Maryport harbour, I reckon most of the fishing trawlers have not been out to sea for many a year.

A few days ago Hubby was asked if he had seen a golden retriever running around by herself. She ran off when she was frightened by a noise. She had been in a puppy farm having puppies and just been rescued a month ago and in her new home when she ran off. I don't know how long she could cope with being outside for so long. this was on a lamppost up the road from us.

@Logan I do hope she is found quickly. That is really sad.

I receive notices in facebook about missing furry friends and although I am not a big fsn of facebook, I always make a point to share those to try to spread the word as far as possible.

Today is my assessment for my cataract surgery. I guess it's like having a eye examination but a bit more than that, but I'm nervous about it, I think that it's just getting there which is edgbaston Birmingham. I find it difficult to motivate to go anywhere these days, I've been like this for a long time even before the pandemic, I'd rather be in the garden gardening.
