Took front lawn up today and carted the turf away and potted up the odd plant found in the front. Been to two GC as well not much to be had . I might go to the RHS Bridgewater tomorrow not made my mind up yet , looks like its going to be a nice day tomorrow.

Phew! Started to go through my to-do list so took Bakoba cuttings, generally deadheaded and tidied up. Just managed to cut the front lawns when it started to rain and I took shelter indoors to enjoy Merlot and some light swapping of Chilli plants from outdoors to indoors.

Then the rain (somewhat) stopped and I decided to make a start of tidying up the Privet hedge.

After two hours of clipping (it's incredible that a stamp sized urban plot can have 10 miles of hedge to be tended), leaning on a wet hedge and discovering that whilst my rainproof jacket is indeed rainproof, the T-shirt is not, contemplating on " Mrs Wet T-shirt Gardener" contest and enduring the comments of the youth passing by on their way to do things any sensible human would be doing in the fading Saturday night light, I finally retired indoors to my Merlot.

      Cheers! :Wino:

Having spent yesterday reducing the to be shredded piles by three quarters I have two thirds of a dumpy bag of shreddings for the compost heap. Then plant garlic, weeding etc.

Today i will be mowing the grass and then putting down some new seed, so it can grow in nice ready for the spring. I might also trim some flowere back and put them on the compost heap.

Hi Vicky ,yes thanks I am although slightly achy from yesterday's hike...just off for a gentle stroll along the river that's just down the road ( and around the corner).
                  The fork isn't the heavy one , it's a lighter ' ladies ' one...so not too bad.:)

Nothing today in the garden, just taking it easy, tomorrow I'll do something out there.
@Upsydaisy I agree with @Victoria the untidy bit looks great.

Same here. My son will be here later with his lady friend for turkey dinner and I'm going to talk her into staying overnight as tomorrow is a holiday. I want to move the cold frame and it is a three people job. Son at one end - and she and I are the same height so we can handle the middle and other end

I've been busy digging a grave. After spending nearly £1 on Giant Mongolian Sunflower seeds I realised that they will probably not slip into the existing small borders but might need just a tad more space.

Having a very irregular plot I'm in possession of several awkward corners and now the sad excuse of "lawn" by the back of the garage has started the journey to transform into a new, lush border.
                            grave.jpg

Once I realised that it does look exactly like a grave, I prepared witty responses for any passer bys who inevitably will comment on my efforts. "Ha ha, one can only store bodies in the garage up to a point" "He was a good man" "Would you mind lending me that big axe of yours" and so on. Sadly, or perhaps, alarmingly, nobody made any jokes but rather commented on the weather and scuttled away. :th scifD36:

Anyways, the area next to the garage wall was full of lush moss that I carefully dug up and transplanted around my little pond. Hopefully it will take, moss is so pretty :)

No we have never put cooked food in the compost bin, not with three dribbling Labradors eying the plates after dinner!!!

Here is the before pic, I had laid out a tarp for a couple of weeks to clear the ground first.

                                A84AAC06-29AA-4F6E-BD7C-168618C5E315.jpeg

I was struggling with it a bit, then hubs came around the corner and took pity on me :)
Annoyingly just ten minutes later, finished!

He has put three layers of mesh on the base and dug it in down as far as the front door thingy, hoping that will deter pesky critters.
