We are not having any problems here ... plenty of trucks on the roads and shops stocked ... except for the English stock. Firewood shortage but that is due to forest fires.

Best thing to do with pasta is to throw it.

Amazon delivery yesterday. They said the package had been handed to the resident. They'd handed it to the green doormat outside the front door and when I returned from work I had difficulty getting it to hand it over, had to really put my foot down.

No queues at petrol stations here nor shortages on supermarket shelves when I go shopping. For a small donation I will tell you where they have the shelves stacked high with toilet rolls but haven't looked for Quality Street as I keep away from naughty shelves.

                        Big Moan:

Road Closed signs. They should make it compulsory to state on the sign where the road is closed.

                        Two examples.

Recently in the nearby very small town (pop 8,000) there was a road closed sign for a residential road where it joins the main road but didn't say where on the road it was closed. There are five side roads along it and a school. It was chaos with residents' cars parked outside their houses and people trying to turn their cars round!

Yesterday and today our road is closed. It is about two miles long, country road, with no side turnings. At one end is our village and the other end is the railway station and level crossing at the small town mentioned above. Just before the level crossing are two roads (left and right) to other villages. At our village end there is a Road closed sign with no info and no Detour sign. Our road is very busy at pre rush hour times as commuters are coming in from villages all around to get to the station. The road is closed at the level crossing but the trains are still running. Unfortunately for the commuters the car park is the other side! Having no details shown has meant an extra four miles of wasted journey added to the six mile detour through a big town - unless you know the back road journey over a lock and a narrow road with passing places.

We went out yesterday morning driving to a walk in the forest. When we came back our road had the closed sign across it. Naturally we obeyed the sign  :nonofinger: and found we had no trouble getting home.

Very much the same in our area, On one occasion our lad could not fuel the wagon due to the garage had sold out of derv, never had an issue since. In Morrison's, well I have never seen so much meat on the shelves, especially pork. Pork is in abundance, loin joints have been £4 per kg for a few weeks now, down from the normal price of £6.

What I have noticed in some of the discount stores and supermarkets, they have put in extra shelving, this started from the first lockdown, It actually made it harder to keep to social distancing rules. The local Morrison's store to me, now feels like being in a warehouse, not only extra shelving but they have gone higher with them, it makes the whole place feel darker.

What is in shortage, small independent businesses. I prefer to shop in these establishments and the market traders. Our local markets are non-existent now, it has been in decline for years but coronavirus has finished them off, with the big supermarkets and discount stores benefitting.

                              Thanks.

I've just been down that way to use the back road. Having looked at the info this is day two of the five day closure by Affinity Water. There are no traffic lights (not necessary if the road is closed) but no workers and no hole in the road! Where they show the problem on the map there has been a water leak in the road for at least 50 years (that's how long we have lived on this road) they have, supposedly, 'repaired' it every five or six years since. It's only on one side of the road so I can't see why they would close the road. Maybe this time they will try and fix it properly - if they actually bother to start work on it!

It's possible that the level crossing is shut (about 50ft from the leak) because it saves lifting it and shutting it all the time. Maybe the workers can't get there because they have shut the road one side and the crossing has shut it the other side :roflol:
