A fine day and a lovely walk through one of the glens. Most of it was overgrown so images were restricted.

@glengarry23 The Black Isle is on the edge of Inverness and a lovely, unspoilt area with a small, spread, population. Mr S and I rented a house there for a year when we first moved to Scotland and were looking to buy our own.

 

The house belonged to General Philip Schuyler, a general on the American side in the Revolutionary War. It is located in rural upstate New York and is colonial architecture circa mid-18th. century. It makes me wonder where he found people with the skill to construct a building like this in that area at that time. Interestingly, British General John Burgoyne occupied the house for a brief time while on his way to fight in the Battle of Saratoga.

The other photo is the visitor's center at Waterford, New York at the entrance to the New York State Barge Canal System. The canal is now mostly used by pleasure craft and the center is popular with passing boaters.

 

Lovely house @hydrogardener, but I don't think I'd like to maintain it with all that wood.

 

Or wash the windows either.
