I remember seeing a programme on how they make baked beans and surprisingly the beans come from the USA mostly.
Navy beans or Haricot beans depending where they come from.

I prefer my baked beans cold and straight from the can.

No I dont remember blazing saddles, but I think the UK is the biggest eater of baked beans, I'm not sure how they eat them in the US but maybe not in tomato sauce?

Baked beans- my all time favourite moan! Honestly, take a food stuff as good and tasty as beans, add another lovely veg tomato, tin it up and it's a lifesaver. Tasty, nourishing and keeps forever.

But what do you know... to "improve" the already perfect mix, someone got the bright idea of adding heaps of sugar to make the product resemble ketchup, possibly to cater to younger palates that have been deprived of real food.

And to top the disgrace, what do you serve it with? Bacon and eggs of course! :wallbanging:

OK, in my advancing years I have been known to add a droplet of it on my forkful of Full English breakfast... but I still like to moan about the stuff

Cripes, I've never tried that. Maybe it's because I once ate cold tinned mushroom soup during a power cut

In 20 years there I only remember it as BBB. American T'other Half won't touch them straight from the tin but is not terribly fond of them BBB style either.

40+ years ago I had a temporary job at a canning factory in Lincolnshire, this factory canned vegetables and fruit in season (gooseberry pie filling was infamous). They also supplied most of the own brand to supermarkets. The difference being in the tomato sauce used. I do remember that M&S sauce had the most tomato puree in the recipe.
I do remember eating cold baked beans with a cling peach added, it was pretty good.
These days I sometimes do my own Boston Baked Beans pretty much the same recipe as @Victoria slow cooked in the oven, excellent if I can get a gammon hock.

Today it's roast turkey from the freezer and veg.
Christmas pudding from last year with ice cream.
Got to use the puddings up before Christmas because I've got the ones that i made this year.
To keep them from going mouldy I put some holes in them and pour a bit of sherry in,i do that about 3 times and have a bit of sherry for myself.

                            Cold bake beans are looooovely!!
When eating them warm I add tomato puree to them.

Can buy reduced salt and sugar baked beans. We have them about twice a week, they have a lot of fibre in the skins.
I always have a brown sauce with them.

I think I tried the barbecue version and to be honest I didn't like them either.
