A couple of YouTubers with big subscriber numbers have started a sort of global reforestation effort and are getting tons of smaller YouTubers to help raise awareness and enthusiasm, it may not be quite as effective as they hope but hey, I'll take their positivity over Grumpy Greta's petulant whining and the Far-Left climate crisis crackpots any time! Nobody seems to feel antagonised by this, and nobody feels like they're being preached at! This positive attitude is what we need much more of in environmentalism, IMHO.

It is a good initiative @Nikolaos but it won't make any difference to the money movers, politicians or climate change pushers.
I believe it is the trees and plants that matter when it comes to offsetting CO2 emissions and if coal could be eliminated as a means of energy production we'd be in swell shape. Bring on the nuclear!

If you look at the number of trees per capita, you will find it is an interesting read.

This is just a sample - there are many countries who fit in between the ones listed below. Example, Portugal 301 trees per person

      Canada 8,953 trees per person

      Russia 4,461 trees per person

      Australia 3,266 trees per person

      Brazil 1,494 trees per person

United States 716 trees per person

      France 182 trees per person

United Kingdom 47 trees per person

@CanadianLori Trees and plants in general are definitely a huge part of the solution! :blue thumb: I have been quite sceptical about their contribution being sufficient in the past, but after seeing around 100 additional insect species visit my small suburban garden because of what I've planted in the last 2-3 years I'm certainly a convert! :)

I think the UK with only 47 trees per person points out just how over populated this country is.
Especially when you consider most of those trees are probably in wilder parts of the north and Wales.

@pete IMO welfare is a big part of the overpopulation issue here as well as immigration, people generally wouldn't have had kids unless they could afford them a few decades ago, not the case nowadays since Daddy State is always there to help! This is why I'm a minarchist, the bigger the state gets the more problems it creates, rather than solves. If you allow people to be as free and self-responsible as they can be, these problems largely solve themselves!

              Agree totally Nick.
But that would be considered a nasty attitude in the world we live in nowadays.
Today it is you right to have as many kids as you like regardless of if you are financially stable enough to look after them.
Your ideas also rely on a sensible population with a sense of responsibility, which is really lacking in some people.

I'm still peed off about our country's covid reaction. First they said, nothing to get serious about. Then, you don't need a mask. Then wear a mask and wait for our vaccines coming from China. Then no, you'll have to wait until we get those jabs somewhere else because China wouldn't keep their end of the contract.

I have two parcels that having been waiting for me at a storage place there since August 9th when Joey B first said we could come back. And then he moved the date. And then he moved it again and again.

And now the land border will be open on November 8th. Joey says show us your double jab passport and come on in. But our stupid, stupid government is insisting we do that coming back but also must provide a negative test result.

Usually I'm over the border for about an hour and a half at most. Pick up my stuff, do a little bit of shopping and zoom home.

So if I go over to pick up my stuff. Before I can come back, I have to fork out about $180 U.S.D. for the test and wait three hours for the results in order to come home.

And both of my jabs came from the states so why is our health department stalling?

This stupid requirement means it is still not feasible to go. Stupid stupid Canadian Government!!

p.s. one of the items that has been waiting for me is a Whirligig and now I wonder if I'll be able to afford to even pick it up for next summer

I would expect nothing less than a lengthy jail term for this pair. I wonder - did their actions prejudice the investigation by making public details that may only have been known by the murderer.

Two Metropolitan Police officers have admitted taking and sharing photographs of the bodies of two sisters who were murdered in north-west London.

OMG @clanless , I don't know about you but more and more I keep saying to myself, "What is the matter with people! Have they no respect for the dead or their families?". And to see it is coppers that did it makes it feel even more senseless and seamy.

The instructions to set the clock in my new car bear no relation whatsoever to the actual process for setting the clock.

That, I can definitely get on board with. If everyone did just a little bit - even keeping the pavement etc outside their home swept and free of litter, that would be less washed down drains and into water courses. If trees were planted where we can - lets have more mixed and managed forests, build more out of wood (lower, stronger, warmer buildings than high rise metal and concrete things); if folks had the space and were encouraged to use it for growing their own - aye and eventually for an electric car charger maybe....

I'm just curious as to how they reach their numbers. Have they counted all the trees in each country? Have they counted the 70 in our garden (we planted 50 of them).

That's an idyllic idea, but even when we left in 2007, houses were being built by the thousands on the principle of 'big house, tiny garden, tiny parking space' because (quote from local council) 'they're for young, working families who aren't interested in gardening'. So, nothing to do with maximum profits for developers from a given area, then . As for planting trees.....:roflol::roflol::roflol:

More likely the number of m2 of woodland and forest per country divided by the population number, non?
