I used to have one of those yellow daisies with the dark leaves. It was called Brazen Hussy. It was great while the sun was out but it sulked otherwise. I got rid of it in the end.

@Jack Sparrow are you referring to the yellow flower with dark leaves in my post? If you are then it's a Dahlia , I just pulled up a chunk from a huge one that my Mum had in my parents garden...think it's call Happy Single Party or something very similar .

Only some light frosts here so far and a good few flowers still in bloom and posted a new video for November here.

        Happy gardening!

Decent garlic has been hard to find lately so we decided to plant some for next year. Following the guidelines for our area we planted the garlic on October 15, 2021. It popped up in just a few days and now it is growing pretty good. It has been covered with several inches of straw, as we have some very harsh winters in upstate New York. It will be interesting to see what spring brings.

Thank you Lem. I love Autumn here because after the hot Summer and what can be 4-5 months of no rain, we are blessed with some and everything comes back into life.

The autumn colours are lovely this year, and are lasting a lot longer than usual.... 20211104_141600.jpg

@noisette47 Very nice indeed, Hazel! :blue thumb: What's the large tree roughly in the middle of your photo next to the large evergreen, please? I love plants that have varied leaf colour in Autumn!

Hydrangea Lanark White, which has done very well this year thanks to all the summer rain, with Sedum Purple Emperor dying back in the foreground and asparagus fern to the left:
                        PB040670.JPG

Then my young Rowan 'Autumn Spire' has again grown well this year, and is just beginning to colour. There were lots of yellow berries, but the wood pigeons had those!
                        PB040659.JPG

Fuchsia 'Genii' still growing and flowering, with alchemilla and some very shiny-leaved bergenia "Bressingham White" in the foreground. A sarcocca and the asparagus fern again to the right, and winter jasmine behind:

Salvias still flowering away, the tall purple one is 'Amistad', then comes red and white 'Hot Lips' and low-growing 'Blue Note':

Both the large, coloured trees are Liquidambars. Both supposedly 'Worplesdon' Someone was fibbing! Or possibly both nurseries......Still, they're pretty colours and the Sumach (Rhus) and Euonymus europus offstage provide splashes of red.

Cut the last of the roses so that I could trim the bushes for winter.
