I am more bothered by excess heat but don't mind the cold :),..i never mentioned that every time i am coming home through town i think of you,..i pass the Prince Hotel and there is always a van parked outside,..writing in the van is ' 40 tastes of Portugal',..then across the town nearer home i pass the Portuguese Restaurant,..i have never come across one before.

Fingers crossed the Berberis cuttings take. It is very pretty. The Saxifraga is lush. The Black Mondo Grass is lovely. @pete sent me a rooting of it a year ago but it did not settle in and "disappeared"!

Hope you pop in one day have have a taste. In saying that, I am not particularly fond of Portuguese food, a lot of fish and pork. But I love things like soft goat's cheese and pumpkin jam.

Hopefully the Berberis cuttings will root and i intend planting some in my small front garden,..as its an open plan i get the odd intruder or dog :).

That Black Mondo Grass in my garden likes some shade,..it produces small beautiful flowers then it produces seeds almost pea size.

For a small town we have Chinese/Portuguese/Thai/Italian/Indian/plus several Chip Shops,..the only one i have not visited is the Portuguese one,..they dropped a flier in my letterbox but i couldn't relate anything on the menu to something i would eat :dunno:,..ah i do like goats cheese :)

We have quite a lot of it and the flowers are really lovely, albeit small. It thrives on neglect - which is a large feature of a lot of the plants in our garden :heehee: Although we always thank all of them for looking good. :love30:

Grilled Piri Piri chicken is good, but I can't eat it too hot. The area where I live in Central Algarve is famous for it. Sardine pate is good too, I make a good fluffy light one.

@shiney ,..thrives on neglect is an apt description,..i have some placed under a garden seat as it was in my way,..not a bother on it and another mostly in shade,..they have proved to be very sturdy plants and easy on the eye,..must thank mine and some others i ignore :)

Just two of the many Foxgloves cuttings taken from the stems of the parent plant after it finished blooming,..these were ones that had very nice blooms,..plenty of others have self seeded for next year.

Black Mondo Grass divides very easily too, I had one plant and now have 9.

I never manage to keep more than two as anyone who visits tends to ask for one,..i would like to have it spaced between Sedum or between Saxifraga hypnoides Densa,..the contrast would be great,..so between visitors and as i now have no room left,..its wishful thinking :)
