    This was local to me:
A man was trying to stop a gang stealing his Bike, he threatened the gang with an Axe, the Police were there in minutes & charged the man with an Axe.
A young school was was walking home from School, she was attacked by a gang who set her school bag alight. The Mother waited 15 hours for the Police to call to take the details.

Mum should have phoned the police after a half hour and said "I'm wielding an axe here"
        Then hung up..

That the batteries on your smoke alarm die in the early morning hours.

They recommend that you should test your alarm every month and that drains the battery to a certain extent so they recommend that you change the battery every six months. In this country it is easy to know when the six months is up (without needing to write it down somewhere) as you can change it each time we change the clocks back or forward. You can still use the batteries in other non-critical equipment.

Some modern alarms have lithium batteries that last 10 years and they recommend that after that period you get a new alarm.

I enjoyed watching the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance last night but one thing bugged me.

They had representatives march on stage from the services but when they had the Merchant Navy they had people from the Princess Line ships. That company is owned by an enormous American company called Carnival. They could at least have used people from the well known icon companies Cunard or P&O (although both those are also owned by Carnival) but we do still have British owned companies they should have used. :old:

T'other Half changes ours every few years when it goes "beep" ... usually in the wee hours when you have finally got to sleep. I think old houses here are less likely to catch fire ... stone walls, terracotta tiled roofs, concrete ceilings, tiled floors/walls (no fitted carpets, often no curtains).

Some seem to be sealed units so you have to buy a new one when the batteries give up the ghost.
A carbon monoxide one I had was like that.

I've never done online grocery shopping before so I though I would give it a go and hopefully miss the crowds with Christmas coming up.

Booked a slot last week with Morrisons the place I normally shop at.

Decided to add a few extra bits last evening before the 10pm deadline for this evenings delivery.

Found it a bit strange that none of those extras were added.
Charge of £1.20 for 12 carrier bags on top of the £4 delivery charge.
Cant get fresh bread or fish, only factory packed stuff. in fact the oly bit of smoked haddock I did order is not avaliable.

Not sure I will be bothering again.

Living in the country, I am not sure they deliver to us without an address. Not sure I would want someone choosing/substituting my choices ... I have trouble with T;other Half doing that anyway!

Not having done it before I'm not sure if it is or isn't, bad?

But I know you need to persevere with these things some times.
But still unsure about all those carrier bags.

Looks like I will have to go get the missing items tomorrow anyway.

I have never done an online grocery shop, doubt I ever will.

Our local Morrison's were only doing deliveries to the elderly and vulnerable, plus a click and collect service, you had to place your order over the phone though.

I think you can now place your order online for delivery, I think it comes from the larger store some 20 miles away. If your going to persevere, then maybe you should buy, a delivery pass. My mate who had a stroke bought a 6 month delivery pass for £20, there is a minimum basket spend though.
