I'm sort of half heartedly hunting for a forever home. It might take a while as I seem to be focusing on the funniest rather than the best ones...

Loving this, wouldn't change a thing! (Perhaps the house is tenanted and the tenant volunteered to take the photos...) Well, at least it is marketed as a "Great Renovation Project"

Check out this 2 bedroom end of terrace house for sale on Rightmove

The lounge with a feature fireplace, close up on the microwave and the welcoming corridor echoing Hitchcock- style period atmosphere:

Go for it! We have always bought places needing renovation ... UK and here. More power to you ... a home of your own and I know you have it within you to make it your own.

Some places I'm viewing are quite sad, they show clearly that the occupant didn't have a good control of their life. Some are obviously buy cheaply, do them up and sell with a profit- type of things gone wrong. And then there is my favourite category, DIY masterpieces and atrocious planning.

Need a plug in the bathroom? No problem, drill a fist size hole in the wall and put an extension lead through it to dangle conveniently above the sink.

I saw one near lethal glass construction charitably described as a "lean to greenhouse". It was probably made using a public bike shelter. Planning permission inspectors would have a field day with some of the "improvements" there are out there.

Decoration is to a personal taste so I won't judge, but sometimes the choices are quite... surprising.

Seems surprising that many buyers do not check that their prospective houses extension or loft conversion have genuine and correctly signed off plans and confirmed planning and building control consent/approval.

Several houses around us with loft conversions , some with ensuite, so clearly classed as habitable and the owners quietly say they do not have any official approval, yet they still seem to be selling ok.
