    Some interesting findings coming out.

    - the lady who developed the AZ vaccine reckons boosters are not needed;
    - the ideal combination of vaccines is AZ and then Pfizer;
    - AZ seems to develop a longer lasting T cell response than Pfizer/Moderna - the T cells remember how to produce covid anti bodies - if you get infected anti bodies are produced straight away;
    - scientists are coming to the view that the mix of early vaccination and more recently high infection rates in the UK explains why things are more positive than in Europe - BoJo's plan to let low risk people get infected and concentrate vaccines on the high risk - seems to be paying off.

    It turns out the decision in Europe to only allow AZ for under 65's is going to back fire - speed of vaccine take up was more important - more so for those at higher risk. Surprise....

      I heard that; in an interview with her on the Today programme (BBC Radio 4) on Tuesday morning.
      Wednesday morning the Today programme had an interview with an epidemiologist who basically said there was insufficient data and not enough time had elapsed to be definitive on this.
      As far I can see the jury is still out on this one.

        Here we go again.
        Looks like they are winding things all up again.
        Same old same, one step forward and then slap us all down again.

        Bearing in mind what has been going on in Europe, I get the feeling people are not going to put up with this much longer.

          Yesterday President Costa mandated the following here ...

          "Retention week" From the 2nd to the 9th of January there will be new measurements:
          - Mandatory telecommuting.
          - Schools closed (ie Christmas vacation will be extended by one week).
          - Discos closed.

          Effective 1st December ...

          Digital certificate. The covid-19 digital certificate is once again mandatory for access to restaurants, tourist establishments and local accommodation B&Bs/(hotels),

          Mask Mandatory in all enclosed spaces. Negative test for access to nursing homes,
          health establishments/gyms, major cultural or sporting events, and to bars and clubs requires the submission of a negative detection test.

          Travel. A diagnostic test with a negative result will also be mandatory for all passengers flying to Portugal. Air lines will be fined 20,000 Euros for each passenger they allow on the plane without a negative test.

            Much as Christmas in itself doesn't bother me, what is it about all those "experts" that just want to ruin it for everyone, just in time they suddenly come up with a new variant.:dunno:

            Its almost like someone is plotting all this, I'm sure its out of a film plot, maybe a Bond film or something with the main baddy seeding different variants of his initial virus on to the world yet again.

            They have closed flights from Southern Africa, what about Hong Kong, where it has also been found.
            If it is what they say it is I doubt we will keep it out, I dont think that is possible, it just extends the agony, look at Australia for instance.

            I had some test kits arrive in the post today, judging by the amount of Chinese writing all over them I kind of wonder who is actually making money out of all this.
            PPE and tests must be costing billions.

                @pete you got your shipment from China so if it was a Bond plot, a new virus would be in the kit waiting for you to open it and stick it up your nose? :heehee:

                    It is depressing, however look at Peru which didn't have a vaccine roll out. They've half the population of the Uk at around 33 million, but they've had twice the deaths of the Uk.
                    They've put bodies in mass graves..
                    And on social media I'm called a sheep for taking the jabs.
                    Well baaaaaa then
